Hunter's POV
"Kati, how are you doing?" I ask once were home. She doesn't answer. "Kati, Ella will be ok."
"You don't get it do you?" she asked, whipping around.
"Get what?" I ask.
"This always happens to the people I love!" she snapped. "It happened to my parents. It happened to my uncle. Now it happened to Ella. My baby sister. And people wonder why I have such a hard time loving people."
"Kati, wait." I said, taking a step towards her.
"Just, just leave me alone. Can you do that one thing?" she asked, a single tear rolling down her face. She ran upstairs to her room, slamming her door.
"Eli, do you feel the same way as Kati does?" I asked, turning towards Eli.
"Well, yeah, but Kati's known Ella longer than I have." he said, looking down. "I should probably go check on Kati."
I let him walk up the stairs before I fall on the couch. "God, please keep Ella safe, we need her here in this family. Please, please don't let her go." I prayed to myself.
Kati's POV
I let the tears run down my cheeks, holding the picture of me and Ella. "Kati?" Eli asked outside the door.
"What do you want?" I asked, wiping the tears from my face.
"Can I come in?" he asked, calmly.
"Sure." I said, putting the picture on my bedside table. Eli walked in and said nothing. He sat down next to me and wrapped me in a hug. "Eli, I have to call Landon and Ashton. I just remembered."
"Ok, I'll go downstairs. Do you want anything?" he asked.
"I'm fine." I said, shooing him out of my room. I pull out my phone from my pocket I dial Ashton's number.
"Hello?" Ashton answered.
"Ashton, it's Kati." I said, taking a deep breath. "Ella, she got struck by lightning. Dad said the doctor said she's going to have little brain damage, but I don't by it."
"Oh, Kati, I'm so sorry. Do you want me to come over?" she asked, concerned.
"If you can." I said.
"Ok, I'm on my way. Oh, you need to call Landon too. He seemed pretty worried." she said, smiling.
"Thanks for reminding me. Bye Ash, see you in a few!" I said, hanging up. I quickly dial Landon's number and he answers right away.
"Hey, how are you doing?" he greeted.
"I've been better." I said.
"So what happened?" he asked.
"Well, Ella wanted to play in the rain so dad let her. You know how lightning can strike twenty miles before a storm right?" I asked.
"Yeah. Did Ella get struck by lightning?" he asked.
"Yeah. She's in the hospital now." I explained.
"Is it ok if I come over?" he asked.
"Yeah, I was actually just going to ask you that." I said, smiling for the first time that night.
"Ok, just text me your address and I'll be over soon." Landon said.
"Ok, bye Landon, see you soon." I said.
"Bye Kati." I hang up and go to find Eli. I walk to his room and find the window open.
"Eli?" I question.
