I groggily got up to the sound of my alarm. I was greeted by at least five different people when I went outside my door.
"Good morning, miss Elle. What would you like for breakfast?" one man asked me.
"Ma'am what would you like to wear today?" a lady in her mid forties questions, interrupting the first man.
"Would you like me to make your bed?" a tiny old lady asked. I stared at them aimlessly.
"Er..... um.... who are you guys?" I questioned, rubbing my tired eyes. They all introduced themselves: the first man was the cook, David. The middle aged lady was my "personal assistant" (why do I need one ?) Petunia, and the old woman was Nancy, the family maid.
"I... er... I can make my own breakfast," I stuttered. David looked confused, but obliged. "I can pick my own clothes too, but thank you very much," I told Petunia. "I can make my own bed too, but thank you," I said to Nancy. They all walked away. I walked downstairs to the kitchen and started to dig through the cabinets. I found stuff to make my signature pancakes, so I started to prepare the batter.
"What are you doing? Isn't that David's job?" Hailey asked, rubbing her face. She looked so adorable in her Olaf pajamas.
"Yeah, but I figured I'd make us some pancakes. Want to help?" i offered, still making the batter.
"Sure!" she perked up. I dragged a stool over for her and helped her pour the batter into the hot pan.
"Well aren't you two cute," my dad admired. He was in a suit and was tying he tie as he stood there, staring.
"Well I figured since we are sisters, I could tell her my secret recipe," I chuckle while shaking my shoulders. My dad laughed while clipping his watch on.
"Well that sounds fun. I should tell you that I have to fly out to Rome and Vanya has to fly out to Halifax today, so you guys are on your own. I'll call and check in on you guys when you both get home from school. We should be back by the time you get home tomorrow," my dad stated while grabbing his laptop. I had never stayed in a house by myself before, so I was excited yet nervous. "Alright I have to get goin' if I wanna catch my flight. I love you," he added while walking towards us and staring at his watch. He gave Hailey a kiss on the cheek and me a kiss on the forehead.
"Love you too Dad," Hailey and I sang in unison. We all laughed while my dad walked out the door with Arnold, the other driver, following behind him and unlocking the car. My smile slowly turned into a frown, for I wanted to spend more time with my dad. Oh well, I know his job was demanding.
I plated up the pancakes and made a little smiley face out of whipped cream before handing it to Hailey. She automatically devoured it. She was so much like Maddie. I missed Maddie.
While I was reminiscing, I got a text from John.
John: How ya doin Kiddo?
Me: Good I guess. It's different..... Last night we went to a gala. It was really fancy and I was really awkward.
John: Lol well it sounds fun. Don't forget the little people! ;) Love you kiddo. Have fun at school. TEXT YOUR MOTHER!!!!! She misses your face
Me: I will. Love you too! Tell Maddie I miss her and I'll come over soon.
John: Will do
Me: Wait, my dad and Vanya are going out of town for the night. Does Maddie want to have a play date with Hailey and hang out with me?
John: They're leaving you alone?
Me: Yeah it's kinda weird, but they both have demanding jobs. So is that a yes?
