Protect The Small Child

"Hey, (Y/n)! I thought we could spend some time together-"

Me and Law turned our heads to the door and saw Ace staring at us with a livid look in his eyes. Before I could do anything, Ace punched Law in the face and grabbed me, putting me behind him. Law fell to the ground and was about to say something, but Ace kicked it before him.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Anxiety quickly building up inside me made me unable to move and start thinking about what to do.

As Law tried to get up Ace kicked him down again and grabbed my hand, and ran out of the library with me. As we were running, my mind was going through so many thoughts.

Why is Ace here? Is Law okay? Why did Ace look so mad? What should I do? I-

I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't know where Ace was taking me until we suddenly stopped onto of the school's roof. He lets go of my hand and sat down next to the door with his head down. I stared at him, trying to think of something to say.

Should I go back and check up on Law or should I stay here with Ace? He looked so happy when he opened the door but once he saw me, he suddenly changed his mood.

"(Y/n)?" I turned my head to look at Ace. He said it so soft that I could barely hear it, considering that I'm trying to think of a way to help out the situation that I'm in.

"Yes, Ace?"

After not hearing him reply to me, I took a step closer to him and was about to ask him again when he suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me into his lap.

"Why did you lie to me?" My face is on fire right now.

When did I ever lie to him? Lying isn't really part of my life and-

My thoughts were cut off when I look up into his eyes. My face no longer red but filled with concern. His eyes were so watery that he seemed like he was about to cry. He looks like a lost puppy that needs some love. So, I did the first thing that came to my mind, I hugged him.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him close to me. I don't know what made him like this but I have sudden urge to protect him from whatever made him like this.

As I was hugging him, I couldn't see the look on his face and how his eyes widen when I wrapped my arms around him. He seemed tensed when I did so, but soon he relaxed into my arms. We just stayed like this for a couple of minutes. It was just the two of us and the atmosphere around us seemed peaceful and comforting.

I want to say something but I don't want to destroy this peaceful vibe we got going on.

"(Y/n)...? I'm sorry...I'm sorry that I called you a liar and you probably have a good reason behind it, but I couldn't take it...I just didn't like it..."

What on earth is this boy talking about?

"Ace? What are you talking about?" I said in a sweet voice, my mother mode is full on and I gotta protect this special little bean.

"You and Law...Aren't you two dating?"

Ah, called it! I knew someone was gotta think that.

"No, no. We are not dating or anything like that. When I walked into the library, I saw some girl telling him that they love him and he said he couldn't be with her. He then grabbed me and told them that I was his girlfriend." I told him, leaving out the part where I have caught his interest and what that girl said about me.

Honestly, I don't want Ace to find this girl and do mean things to her. If he is anything like Luffy, he'll do something stupid and will embarrass me because of it.

"Really?!" Ace's face light up after hearing that.

"You're serious?!" I nodded my head to confirm it. He then proceeded to smile, like a small child getting a present out of the blue. I smiled back at him, I don't know why but seeing him like that warmed my heart.

He's now acting like a puppy that just got his good boy treat. Does Ace dislike Law or something? Maybe they fought each other and never liked one another since then or something? I got to remember to ask him about it later.

Ace then hugged me and held me in his arms, I rested my head on his chest and just listened to his heartbeat. It was so nice and peaceful, listening to it almost made me want to take a nap in his lap.

"Ace?" He hummed, "if I fall asleep, wake me up when the bell rings." I stated before slowly falling asleep in his lap. As the world of dreams started to take over, I couldn't hear Ace's response. Hopefully, he said he could.
