Opal tried her best to ignore the events of the previous night,

but for some reason it still lingered in her mind.

-

"Afternoon, class. Today you'll be receiving your question booklets that I have graciously marked."

The Literature professor called from the front of the class,

as Opal attentively smiled up at him, she was excited to see what mark she had received.

For the sweet girl thought she had really excelled at the task at hand.

"The top five will receive a ranking and their mark, and for everyone else, only your mark will be written on your paper. The whole booklet was out of fifty."

The old man spoke, handing out each booklet when he got to Opal, he looked down at her and said

"fantastic job."

Opal grinned and looked down at her booklet and was pleased when she saw that she had gotten 45 out of 50,

which she was overly happy with.

She took a glanced over at Archie's paper,

he only got 40,

she was oddly surprised she could've sworn that he would've gotten higher than her.

After, Opal glanced back down at her paper and glimpsed the ranking she had received; second.

She tingled with annoyance, she was so close to being top.

She sighed, maybe next time.

"Now class, I realise often teacher's say not to rush your work and that it doesn't matter if you hand it in first as long as you get a good mark.

However, for this assessment, it seems that the person who handed in their assignment first also received the top score of 50 out of 50.

So let this be a reminder to you all, that if you want to catch up, you're going to need to put in a bit more effort."

Opal was getting frustrated, how was it possible for someone to finish a task practically overnight and also get the top mark.
