An Epic Love Story

Chapter Tris

Christina's POV

"Hey why did Epic look so sad the rest of the night? You guys sounded like you were having so much fun." I say to Brendon the next morning before school. Before I left them in the kitchen Epic seemed fine and I heard her and Brendon talking and laughing a while but by the time I came back she looked miserable.

"I don't know. We were getting along and she just...left. Can you find out if she's okay? I'm worried about her."

"So...you admit you like her?"

"Ok fine I like her. A lot." I smile and hug him. He's so much better for Epic than Cole. Wait....Cole.

"What did you say right before she left?"

"Uh I said 'good girl' I think." Now I get it. That's what Cole says when she 'obeys' him.

"Look Brendon, there's something you should know about Epic."

"What?"

"She has a boyfriend." Brendon frowns and he looks kind of sad.

"Why would you get my hopes up like that?"

"Well, Cole, her boyfriend, he's not...good to her. He....hits her." Brendon's eyes fill with anger as my words sink in.

"Why would he do that to her?"

"It doesn't matter. The point is that she needs to leave him, but she won't because she's scared of him."

"So...that's why you wanted me and her together? Because I'm a better guy for her."

"Yes!! And she likes you Brendon, she really does, but...Cole's in the way..." Brendon listens to me and smiles a little.

"She likes me?"

"Yes!! Now I have to go." I say leaving before he can say anything else.

When I get to school I almost have to run to get to class on time because I stopped to talk to Brendon. I go to my locker quickly, and run to math, without really paying attention. I run straight into Cole.

"Where's Epic?" he demands blocking my path.

"I don't know." I answer truthfully. "But...wherever she is, it's much better than being with you."

"Excuse me bitch?" Oh hell no....

"Look I know Epic may be too passive and scared to stand up to you, but I'm not, so I suggest you back the fuck off."

"Just tell her I miss her." He says innocently. I narrow my eyes at him.

"You mean you miss hitting her?" Cole glares at me before walking away. That bastard really has some nerve....

I meet Epic at lunch and we sit at at our regular table, me on the right, her on the left. Not much changes around here....

"Anything interesting happen today?" Epic asks me.

"Well...I ran into Cole this morning. He said he misses you." I tell her sarcastically. She smiles a little.

"Really?"

"Yeah. But don't get the wrong idea. He's just messing with your emotions."

"Dude why can't you just accept that he actually cares about me." BECAUSE HE DOESN'T!!!

"Epic, I'm sorry to say this, but he sees you as nothing more than a punching bag and a sex doll." And she knows I'm right.

Did you guys like that? I hope it was worth it for the long wait. I'm really sorry about that I just had A LOT of work to do. I plan to update everything this weekend though. ;)
