Chapter Seventeen Again

Christina's POV

I look up at the clock in my fifth period class. 3:30. Epic's been gone for over an hour. If she's in trouble no one's going to know why but me. I have to find her.

"Ms. James?" I ask politely. She slowly lifts her eyes from her gold-rimmed tortoise shell glasses, and looks up at me closely.

"Yes? Christina?"

"Can I go to the bathroom?" She sighs, putting her hands on her hips.

"I don't know, can you?" Is it just me or is that the most annoying sentence ever? If I didn't need to be somewhere I'd probably tell her that, but Epic's more important so I grit my teeth and bear it.

"May I use the bathroom?" My teacher smiles, brushing a hand to the door.

"Yes you may." I stand up, and run out of the door. Okay so the best thing to do is think of the positive right? Maybe she's at home with Brendon. I pull out my phone and dial his number. It rings three times before he picks up.

"What are you doing out of school?" He asks sternly, like my own annoying dad.

"That doesn't matter. Is Epic with you?"

"Um....no. Isn't she at school with you?"

"Well...I don't know," I say walking back to the cafeteria. "She went to break up with Cole and I haven't seen her since."

"No...do you think..."

"Yeah I was hoping not. That's why I called you." I tell him when I step on something. I look down a familiar pink iPhone with Fall Out Boy on the lockscreen. Epic's phone. She must have dropped it on her way to meet Cole.

"Chris? Are you still there?"

"What? Oh yeah. I just found Epic's phone."

"Look through it! Maybe it'll help you find her." I enter '4932' and it doesn't work. She must've changed her password. I try all the basics, '1234', '4321' even 'Bren' but it doesn't work either.

"What's her password?" I ask Brendon.

"It's 'Epic'." I roll my eyes. How could miss that? I unlock my friend's phone and click on her messages. The first that pops up is from Brendon. I won't tell you what it says but I'm scarred for life. I click on Cole's name.

"The last thing she sent was 'meet me at the lockers by the cafeteria' and that's where I am right now. So I guess they were here but he took her somewhere else." I look up and see that one of the lockers is a little but dented and there's dried blood on the floor. "Oh my Lana..."

"What happened?" I take a picture of the locker and quickly send it to him from Epic's phone. "I'm coming over there."

"Okay but remember, you're my guardian, not her concerned boyfriend." I hang up the phone and start to pace in front of the lockers. "Where would he take her?" I ask no one in particular. Probably somewhere secluded, and well hidden, private, the last place you'll look. I walk outside. That's when I figure it out. I walk out towards the shed in the back of the school. Unless they left campus, this has to be where the are. I take three deep breaths and slowly push the door open. Epic sits on the floor, tied in a fetal position. Black streaks line her face, she's obviously been crying. There are multiple bruises on her face, torso, thighs, and wrists. When she sees me her eyes widen, and she tries to speak but there's a cloth in her mouth. I run over and pull it off.

"Oh my gosh Christina thank you." When I get her untied she pulls me in for a hug. "I'm so sorry I yelled at you. You were right about him. From the beginning."

"It's okay. Where is he? Are you hurt badly?"

"I'm hurting everywhere, especially my head, but it's all good. And he left. I don't know why, but he said he'd come back for me." I nod and pull her up to her feet. She limps a little so I support her.

"We should get you out now then. I'm taking you to Brendon. I'll deal with Cole." She smiles.

"Brendon's here?"

"Of course he's here! He loves you." I tell her.
