Brendon's POV
"What's wrong? Why isn't she waking up??" I ask the nurse when Epic passes out.
"Relax, she'll be up any minute."
"You promise?"
"Yes. She's fine. I just need to run some tests. I'll need an adult to authorize it. Do her parents work nearby?"
"Um they're out of town. But...I can authorize it, I'm 21." She looks kind of like she doesn't believe me but eventually nods and goes to a filing cabinet. She pulls out some papers and hands them to me with a pen. "This won't hurt right?" She shakes her head and I sign all the papers.
After an hour or so Epic wakes up.
"Brendon?" Is the first thing she says. I walk over and she sits up.
"Yeah? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, it's just my head hurts a little." I reach out and hug her. "Brendon, what am I doing here?" She mumbles into my shoulder. I pull away and look at her.
"You...you don't remember?"
"I mean yeah I remember Cole and you singing to me." That's such a huge relief...
"Okay well I brought you to the nurse because your head was hurting and you were dizzy and couldn't walk straight, but then you passed out." I quickly explain as the nurse walks back in. Epic nods and I stand to face her. "So what did you find out?" The nurse smiles and hands me pages with graphs and charts I don't understand.
"She has a slight concussion, but she should be fine. Make sure to clean the bruises and that she sleeps, but someone needs to check on her every few hours." I nod and give Epic a hand to help her get up.
"Thanks so much." I tell the nurse and then Epic and I walk into the hall. "How do you feel?" I ask, taking her hand as we walk out to my car. I open the door for her and she gets in.
"Fine I guess."
About ten minutes later I pull into Christina's driveway.
"Aren't you taking me home?" Epic asks.
"Nope. You're not staying there alone." She rolls her eyes, opening the car door.
"Yeah, yeah I love you too." I say laughing and following her in. "Let's go to the bathroom so I can clean your battle scars." She rolls her eyes and sits in a chair in the corner.
"I'm not really sure how this works though, like do you just use water or do you need that alcohol stuff?" She laughs a little. That was probably a stupid question...
"You need the alcohol stuff." I find a brown bottle in the first aid kit.
"This it?" I ask holding it up. Epic nods and I open it and pull out some wipes. "Okay so here goes." I say wiping a place on her forearm where the skin is purple. I put some alcohol on it and she winces.
"Fuck, that stings."
"That's not very good language for a young lady." I say holding back a smile. Then she punches me in the gut.
"Shit..." I mumble doubling over.
"Hypocrite much?" She smiles, clearly satisfied with herself.
"Yeah, yeah you know I'm pretty much saving your life right now, you could be a little nicer."
"Oh yeah right, thank you oh great and powerful Brendon." Epic says sarcastically with a fake smile.
"My pleasure."
"No, my pleasure." She says pulling me towards her but I stop.
"No, your injuries. Now be a good girl and lay down so I can finish saving your life." To my surprise she does and I continue to clean off dried blood and disinfect and things. When I'm finished I give her a hand and she hops down.
"Now what?"
"Now you need to sleep." I tell her, taking her to my room.
"But I'm not tired."
"Well you're supposed to rest." I say sitting on my bed.
"Fine." She says walking towards my door. I get up and run after her.
"Wait. You're staying in here."
"Why?"
"So I can check on you and I'll be here if you need me."
"But I don't wanna take your bed." I take her hand and pull her over.
"It's perfectly fine. Just lay down." She nods and gets under the covers.
"Brendon?"
"Yeah?"
"Can you play Pierce The Veil? It helps me fall asleep." I nod and walk over to my iPod. I'm kind of surprised since most people wouldn't use screamo as a lullaby.
"Album?"
"Collide With The Sky." I smile turning it on. That's my favorite too. Ironically the first song is called One Hundred Sleepless Nights. After it's on, I walk over to my bed before joining Epic and eventually falling asleep the way I fell in love.
