Chapter Nine Inch Nails

EPIC'S POV

That night I come home and go straight to my room. I need to clear my head, so I go to the one thing that always helps: music. The first song that plays is Northern Downpour, which I love, but between everything that just happened and the Ryden feels it just makes me cry. It makes me think of Brendon and how hurt he looked when I left. After...the kiss. I still can't believe I kissed him. And maybe, sort of, liked it...

I shake the thought away and go downstairs for some ice cream. Then someone knocks on the door. At first I think it's Cole and tense up, not really knowing how to react, but then I realize the person outside is knocking to the beat of Let It Go. That could only be one person. I run over and pull the door open.

"What do you want Chris?" She smiles sarcastically and comes in, pushing past me.

"Hello to you too. And what happened?! Brendon won't tell me anything. You're okay right? I can't believe I left--"

"Christina! You're babbling."

"Sorry." I nod and motion for her to sit on the couch. I grab the ice cream and two spoons before joining her. Christina looks at me full on, as if inspecting me for any signs of Cole's 'love'. "Tell me!!" She pleads, scooping a huge spoonful of lemon ice cream into her mouth. "Shit! Brain freeze!" I laugh as she runs her temples in ice cream induced agony.

"Okay, well...Cole pinned me against a wall, and...touched me...it was awful. I just feel...violated I guess. Dirty." Christina looks at me sadly and turns away.

"This is all my fault..." She says quietly. "I should've stopped you but I didn't."

"No! None of this was your fault. Please don't blame anything on yourself. I'm the one who screwed up everything. He was mad because I told you he was hitting me. He told me not to tell anyone and I did, so he said I owed that to him."

"Um you owe that bastard nothing honey. You need to understand that. How far did it get?"

"Not far." I tell her. "Brendon rescued me." Christina gets about a million times happier and squeals in my ear.

"Yay!! So....what happened after that?" She asks raising an eyebrow. I sigh a little. She was going to find out sometime.

"Well...we went to your house and he brought me blankets, we talked, and then...we kissed..."

"OH MY GOSH!! That is so knight-in-shining-armor of him!!! Was it a good kiss? How long? Tongue? Wait scratch the last one, gross."

"Yeah it was good. Okay it was amazing! I think...I think I felt the sparks..." I say slowly, feeling stupid for admitting it to her. But it was amazing.

"Awww!! I bet he did too!! Y'all make such a cute couple."

"We're not...a couple"

"Why not?!"

"Because...I left. I told him it was a mistake."

"Epic!!" She whines.

"Look, Chris, I'm still with Cole. If anything, today was a reminder that he's not just going to go away. I can't be with Brendon...no matter how much I may want to."
