Chapter 12 :

In horror.

RECAP :

" Don't you ever take everything seriously ? "

That made me shut my babble.

" You asked me who I was running from. I honestly did not know. But what I do know, haunts me till this very day. "

******************************

When moments past by, you would normally never think twice about it. Nobody really does. Not until something major affects your life. Not until then you would think twice. Regret, I may say is something else.

I have lots of regret burdened on my shoulders. Non of them I wish to meet again. I guess that is the point of regret. But what I didn't realise was, how it changed me.

Into something new.

The night's wind was attacking me in its fury. I thighten up the grip towards my cloak, hoping it would give me some sort of warmth. But I didn't hope as much.

" Haunt you till today ? "

The elf casually said while pushing away the small branches on the trees.

" You wouldn't have known. "

I closed my eyes, trying to avoid myself from reeling back the memories.

I felt a touch on my arm. I opened my eyes only to see a pair a blue eyes filled with sympathy.

" You do not have to force yourself you know ? "

" What do you mean ? "

" It does not matter who you were before. What does matter is that you let it go. "

I quickly broke away the touch. Pushing his hand away. I looked at him with fury.

" Let it go ? Do-do you think its that simple ? You don't know what I'd been through. You-you don't know what- "

" No I don't. And I don't mean to plan any time sooner that I will. You think you're the only one with a burden to carry? Do you ? "

He stopped walking with his fist as white as snow. I could see his lips were trembling, as he was holding back. Holding back something painful.

I slowly sat down on the dried leaves. When I sat, the leaves gave out a crunching sound and I flinced. I didn't like hearing the sounds of pain. No matter what they were. Living or dead.

I looked down on the crunched leaves and let out a sigh. I was tired. Tired of everything.

" What are you doing ? We have to keep moving to figure out what followed us. "

The elf said while pushing off strands of flyaway hair from his face. His face gleamed in the moonlight.

The moonlight that wasn't there during that specific night.

" Couldn't we have moments that we can spare ? "

" Why ? "

His tone harsh and firm. As always.

" I have something to tell you. Something important. "

******************************

Sweat beaded on my forehead and I suddenly had trouble breathing. The wind was howling fiercely but that didn't help my situation.
