Munifa
If anxiety was to kill. I'd be dead by now. The sound of the door opening brought me back to reality. Ammi came out smiling and I made a sound of relief and said a silent prayer. "You can come in and see the baby" Ammi said and I hurriedly moved towards the door. Adda fiyya was holding her so I leaned forward to collect her. Here I was face to face with the most beautiful little being I've ever seen. I barely knew how to hold babies. In short I was scared of holding babies. They are so fragile you feel they're going to break or something. I couldn't stop staring at her. I was already imagining what she's going to look like when she grows up. "Adda fiyya congrats." I said happily with my eyes fixed on the little princess. "Thank you. You're finally an aunt." She said laughing. I passed the baby to Sayyid and he held her like a fragile egg. "Ok. It's time to go home. I'm sure Ilham is up by now. Go freshen up and bring us breakfast" Ammi said bringing us back to the moment.
When we got home Ilham was already up. " where did y'all go to so early in the morning?" She asked looking at Sayyid and I. "We were at the hospital with Adda fiyya. You were busy sleeping when we left. I actually even forgot about you. Dress up. Let me prepare breakfast and we'll all go to the hospital so you can see your little niece." I said heading to the kitchen and she left happily to take her bath and dress up. About an hour and half later we were all done so we went back to the hospital.
The room was already full when we got back. Adda fiyya's husband, Faisal, and his family members were all present. There was too much excitement. I managed to get Ammi to eat a little bit and also force Adda fiyya to take some tea. "Look who's finally a daddy" I said to Faisal who was standing at a corner of the room looking down at his phone and smiling. He raised his head up and smiled. "Oh and look who's finally an aunt" he said laughing. "Well congrats. Baby Munifa is finally here." I said jokingly. "Haha Thanks" he said laughing.
I called Yusrah and she didn't pick and as I was about to call someone else when her call came in. "Call me mummy the next time you see me." I said immediately I picked. "Oh my goodness Adda fiyya ta haihu. Where are you right now?" She said excited. Even more excited than I was. "Ke Chill. We're still in the hospital." I said laughing. "Ok text me the address. I'll be on my way." She said and hung up. She couldn't even wait for my reply or even say bye.
Preparations for the naming ceremony fired up. Adda fiyya came home two days later. I hardly had time for myself since Adda fiyya gave birth. I kept going up and down greeting and entertaining visitors. I woke up very early on the day of the naming ceremony because there was a lot to do. I bumped into Ilham on my way downstairs. "Woah watch where you're going Ilham." I said but that didn't stop her from running upstairs. The house was already busy so I joined in the preparations.
The baby was named 'Ayra'. Yusrah came around 11am and we all got busy. There was so much excitement. "Munifa!" Ammi called from afar. "Na'am. I'm coming." I said dropping my little cousin that I was holding and went to see Ammi. "Ammi gani" I said to her. "Your aunties are leaving get some souvenirs for them and see them off" she said turning back to respond to another person.
I went to the kitchen store and got some souvenirs for my aunties then I went back to see them off. "Where are you hurrying to?" Yusrah asked appearing out of nowhere and tagged along. "My aunties are leaving so I'm seeing them off" I said still walking until I got to the living room where my aunties were and they stood up to leave. Yusrah and I walked them out of the gate to where their cars were parked. They entered their cars and they all left.
I turned to go back into the house and Yusrah was nowhere to be found. Argh Yusrah never stays in one place. "Munifa!!!" And then my thoughts were cut short. It was Yusrah screaming my name. My goodness Yusrah grow up I thought while I walked towards her. "Yusrah will you ever grow up?" I asked as I approached her. "Haha please let me be." She said as she moved towards a car and the door opened. Lo and behold Salim came out. "Oh my God what are you doing here" was the first thing that came out of my mouth while I was smiling. "We'll surprise!" He said laughing and Yusrah stood beside him laughing too.
"So Wafiyya is your sister?" He asked as he leaned against his car to face Yusrah and I. "Well yes. Where do you know her?" I asked looking at him suspiciously. "Her husband is a very close family friend. We actually grew up together." He said with a smile plastered on his face. "Oh that's..." "wait! Now I know where I've seen you." He said cutting me off. "Oh haba? Where?" I asked curious to know.
"Adda Munifa!" Ilham screamed out of nowhere running towards us. "Ammi has been looking for you. She asked me to come and call you" she said in between breaths. Oh God I can't even rest. I sighed. "Ina wuni" Ilham greeted Salim. "Lafiya how are you?" He asked her giving her his usual smiley face. "I'm fine alhamdulillah." She replied him. "Well I think I have to go now. I guess we'll talk some other time." I said obviously not happy. "Alright no problem. Bye" he said smiling. Oh my goodness does he ever frown? "Alright bye. Yusrah I'll be inside when you're done." I said turning to leave. "I'm right behind you" she screamed. Typical Yusrah. I wasn't too far but she screamed anyway.
