Tyler, Texas"You ready for this?" Harry asked, wiping dust off of his blazer. Lucky sighed and nodded, forcing down a lump in her throat. She looked in front of her to see the doors of the convention center of Tyler, Texas, her home town. It was hard enough to believe she was back home after so long, but it is was way more difficult to comprehend that she was about to watch her little sister graduate high school.
It was in the same building where she and Macey had graduated so many years before. The last time Lucky had seen her was the month before at Macey and Grant's wedding. They talked all the time, though. They were still like sisters, as well as her and Melissa.
Melissa still lived in Oklahoma and was still teaching Kindergarten. Her and Alberto were doing really well, so much Melissa once considered moving to Toronto to be closer to him. She ended not doing that because she didn't want to leave her students or the school she was teaching at. Even so, Melissa and Alberto loved each other so much. It was almost insane.
Lucky had found a job almost right after she moved to LA that past January. With a little help from Harry, she had landed a spot on the top photography team at Variety Outfitters: LA. Her life changed so much from there. Every once in a while, Lucky would fly up to Toronto to visit Harry on set, but now filming was done she had him all to herself.
Lucky pushed the door open and walked in, Harry staying close behind. The lobby was crowded with parents, siblings, and students standing around talking. Lucky had gotten a text from her mother saying they were already sitting down about 15 minutes before, so she wedged her way through the people to find her parents.
Old memories started flooding back to Lucky as she entered the large room. The set-up for the graduation was exactly like her own, even the chairs seemed to be the same. Staff talked up on the stage and spectators filed in to find seats. Lucky scanned the room to see if she could find her parents, and she did.
"This way," she told Harry and began walking closer to the stage. Harry nodded and followed her. Both stopped when they got to the row where Janet and Damon Montgomery were sat.
"Hey mom," Lucky greeted with a smile, "Hey dad."
Both looked up and smiled. Janet stood and went over to hug her eldest daughter, "It's so good to see you."
Lucky hugged back, "It's good to see you too. I missed you."
Janet let her daughter go, but soon after Damon pulled her in tightly. Lucky had missed the warm feeling of her dad's embrace. Even when she was a little girl, his hugs gave her some of the best comfort.
"How's LA been treating you?" Damon asked while brushing away a stray hair from Lucky's face.
"Well I don't miss the cold, that's for sure." Her parents laughed a little, but then their eyes drifted over to the Asian man standing awkwardly away from them.
Lucky brought him closer and held his hand, "Mom, dad, this is Harry. Harry, my mom and dad."
Janet held out her hand to Harry, "It's nice to finally meet you."
"It's nice to meet you too Mrs. Montgomery," Harry replied, then turned to Damon, "and you too, Mr. Montgomery."
"Call me Damon," Lucky's dad smiled and shook his hand as well. Lucky blushed slightly, but she was so happy her parents where being kind to Harry and were accepting of him from the very first second.
