Chapter 22: It's not my fault! I'm just rich that's all...

The next morning...

I wake up to someone screaming. I shot up and look. I see Ino and Sakura squealing at their hearts disire. Shikamaru shots up knocking me to the floor. I look at him. "Why does it that they have to squeal or scream when they see us," I ask tiredly. He shrugged. I get up and walk over to the balcony. I open it and they pull me out, closing the door behind him. "Did you know what happened at the club last night," Ino asked. "No," I said. "There was a shortage of guys! Oh god it was wieared," Sakura said. "Well actually-," I started. "What where were you?" I point my thumb to the couch. "Oh," tey say in unison. I had to do something, but what was it? My eyes widen. "Shiz, I just remembered! Got to go girls," I said. I did a backflip into the door. I backflip over the couch and grab my shoes. I land on my feet and go to my room. I get dressed quickly. I finally get from my room onto the baclony, and Ino and Sakura were still there, and flip off. "DAVI," Ino screamed. I finally land on my crystal platform. I smrik. I ran to Tsunade's office, letting the crystal get infront of me as I go.

I soon arrive. I knock on her door. "Come in," A voice said. I step inside and see Lady Tsunade doing some paperwork. "Did you need me," I ask. She looked at me. "Actually yes. I need you and Shikamaru to cover the Chunin exams this year. It's next Friday. You and Shikamaru will be covering the 3rd exam," She said. "Alright, I'll be there." "Great, and while your out, can you get Shikamaru?" "Yep." I walk out. I'm going to be doing the Chunin exams this year eh? Awesome. I walk back to my apartment. I walk in to see Shikamaru... sleeping on my couch. I shake him. He groaned. "What," He groaned. "Lady Tsunade needs to see you. While your out, you need to go home," I said. He sat up. "Alright, can I come back? My mom's going to nag." "I'll be there with you, so no need to worry." "Thank you. I'll get you right after I talk with Lady Tsunade." I nod as he leaves. I lay on the couch.

30 minutes later...

I was reading a book... while still laying on the couch. Someone knocked on the door. I get up and answer it. I see Shikamaru. I threw my book on the couch and walk out with him. I walk him home. There we went inside. I see his mom there... ready to yell at him. "Where have you've been," She asked furiously. I stood in front of him. "Mrs. Nara, I'm sorry. I had him to stay with me because a bunch of guys were chasing me and he rescued me from them. We decide to play Shoji for the rest of the night, Then he fell asleep on the couch. I couldn't let him do that for me, so I let him relax. Please don't be mad at him," I pleaded her. She seemed to like me over the years. Now wasn't a good time. "He should've told me. And you shouldn't be getting chased by guys, unless you wanted to," She yelled at me. "B-But, It was girls night and he said it would be good for me and-." "Well that doesn't give you the right to take my son away from me. And don't argue with me. You won't see him for a while." She pushed me out the door, slamming it behind her. I sigh/ shutter. She never yelled at me, no one did unless I got into some trouble. It was something small, nothing major. I slowly walk home, with a tear falling to the ground. I was soon stopped by someone. I look up and see Ino. "Why so sad," She asked. "Mrs. Nara yelled at me because I kept him from home last night. She said I won't see him for a while," I said looking down. I take her hands off my shoulders. I walked past her forward. "Davi," I hear her say softly. I continue to walk home.

Shikamaru's POV

I listen to my mom yell at Davi. "Well that doesn't give you the right to take my son away from me. And don't argue with me. You won't see him for a while," My mom yelled, pushing her out of the door. She closed the door and turned to me. "And as for you, you're only going out If I tell you to," She yelled at me. I slowly walk to my room. I sit on my bed. I look at my stand to see a book. I pick it up. I look at the inside cover. There was a note.

Shikamaru,

Sorry for not giving this to you in person. I've been busy. I just want to wish you the best birthday today. It currently is 1 am in the morning. You just went to the bathroom while we're playing shoji. It's about the time you saved me from the chasing guys. I was going to give you this, but I know your mom's going to nag. It's Saturday, September 27. It's your luck that my birthday was like 3 months ago. Happy birthday you 16 year old.

I totally forgot it was my birthday today. She remembered. I smirk at the thought. Love you too, Davi. I look at the title of the book. 'True Lover'. And there was a little note under it. The story of us. I again smirk. I lay back on my bed. I start to read the book. I hear footsteps. The door opened. I didn't look since I was reading the book. "Are you reading a book," A voice asked. I look to see my dad. I nod. "Yeah, what about it," I ask. "I never seen you reading a book, more playing shoji." "Well, mom decided that the only way I'm leaving is if she tells me to. I don't get to see Davi, so there's no reason not to." I return to the book. "Does Davi nag?" "Only if I almost kill myself." "Well, put the book away because we got a mission." "We? Tell me your joking." "I'm not joking. You and I are to deliever a scroll to the town ahead of us. It will be and hour." I sigh and sit up. "What's so special about this town?" "Davi's there. When I went to see Lady Tsunade, Davi said she was going there to waste her heart's luck on the slot machines. And Lady Tsunade agreed as long as Davi came back with something for her." I shot up. "Let's go." I rush to get ready.

30 minutes later...

We set out on the mission. I've been waiting to see Davi. I also needed to thank her for her present.

Davi's POV

I've been playing slots for 30 minutes. I won tons of money, but it can't feel my heart's desire. I wonder if Shikamaru is having a good birthday. I sigh as I began to play another slot machine. I felt a prescence next to me. I turn to see Toad Sage. I look at him. "What are you doing here," My horse voice asked. "Just chillen here... and waiting for some ladies to get here. What are you doing here," He asked. "Playing Slots to fill my heart." "Why?" "Shikamaru's mom yelled at me because I 'kept her son from her too long'." I return to the machine. "Well, all mother's do that because they want the right woman for their son." "But, we've always gotten along. I don't know what happened." "Well, I'm going to go. You need this." I nod.

1 hour later...

How long has it been since I've eaten? I don't know. My eyes were baggy because of how I haven't rested. I've been moving from slot to slot. This is the 4th slot in an hour. I don't know if anyone misses me or not. I felt two presents behind me. "You'll have to wait your turn," My raspy voice said. 3 buckets of money were next to me. They were huge. "Oh really, not even for me," A voice said. I was stunned. I turn. I see Shikamaru and Mr. Nara. "H-Hey guys," I said giving a shy smile. Shikamaru smirked. He hugged me. I hug him back. We let go. "So wha cha need," I ask them. "Well, we came here for a mission and then my dad said that you were here for a casino. I came to check on you," Shikamaru said. "You know that's not good for your health," Mr. Nara said. My expression changed. "What about your mom," I ask. Their expressions change quickly. "Umm...," They start. "You two are screwed." "Yep," They say in unison. "I'll go back with you. Let me just cash out." I cash out and walk home with the buckets of money. "How much did you win," Mr. Nara asked. "Um, I don't know. About 1015300436 Yen (About 10 million Dollars for AMERICANS!)," I said shrugging. They stare at me with their jaws open. "What? Did I say something wrong," I ask them. "You know that makes you the richest person after the Hokage," Shikamaru asked. "No? Sorry! I just kept playing for an hour and 30 minutes, but I didn't mean to-." "It's awesome. How much were you going to keep?" "Half. I give the rest to Lady Tsunade." They rushed me back to the Leaf. We soon arrive and they bring me to Lady Tsunade's office. They busten in without any second thought. "You two came back already, and Davi? When did you come back," Lady Tsunade asked. "You see Lady Tsunade, I came home with about 1015300436 Yen and they rushed me here as soon as possible," I said with a shrug. Her jaw was dropped. Her eyes focused on me. "1015300436 Y-Yen?" "Yes. Is that bad?" She stood up. Her eyes never left my face. "DAVI YOU'RE RICH! HOW DID YOU-?" "It only took me an hour and 30 minutes." "THROUGH THAT?!" "It was depression!" "DEPRESSION?! OF WHAT?!" "S-SHIKAMARU'S MOM YELLED AT ME AND I GOT SAD AND I WENT TO THE CASINO!" "Oh, why didn't you just say so?" My expression got more confused by the minute. "That's all it took? Well, I was going to give you half of it-." "Don't. It's enough. Use that money wisely." "Alright."
