~
Winter was always one of your favorite seasons. The toads always decorated the Mushroom Kingdom so pretty, with many different colored lights hanging across fences and walkways, the sights were so lovely. You loved watching the townspeople get ready for the holiday season.
There's nothing that you wanted more than being bundled up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate, enjoying the snowfall from the inside.
Too bad you were falling on your butt in the middle of an ice rink.
The ice was felt like pins underneath you, each fall being excruciatingly cold- and a little bit painful- every time you tripped.
You didn't know how Mario convinced you to come here, (maybe because he looked really cute when telling you about the place.) But all you knew now is that you immediately regretted it.
You placed your hands on the ice beside you pushing yourself up. You attempted to stand, your legs shaking as you flailed your arms in order to keep your balance.
Rocking back and forth you tried to steady yourself, but you teetered too far back and you ended up falling backwards.
Before you could hit the ice again, you felt a pair of arms catch you, wrapping around your waist and helping you stand.
Scraping against the ice, Mario circled around you and came to a stop when he was in front of you. He reached for your hand and held it in his.
"Are you okay?" He questioned, looking up at you.
You stood there a little bewildered, knees shaking and cheeks flustered as you gave a weak nod and a soft 'thank you.'
You stood up a little straighter, still holding onto his hands. "Pfft, I told you I was bad at this," you joked, laughing softly.
He laughed with you, closing his eyes and smiling, making your heart do a little flip.
He looked back at you, "Want me to teach you? I'm not the best, but I know I can probably teach you a few things."
His looked at you with kind eyes as you gaped at him. He was so kind, you're so surprised to even know a person like him. In fact, when it came to you, his actions always seemed so...genuine. How he watched you whenever you ate in hopes that you're eating enough, or even when he insists on walking you home even though you say you'll be alright.
"I just want to make sure you're safe," he always said before departed, wishing you a goodnight.
He cared for you so much.
That's the thing you always loved about him.
You drew yourself out of your thoughts by hastily saying 'yes', gripping onto his hands a little tighter as you pushed yourself past him, a burst of confidence rushing through you.
Although, your confidence was short lived when you tripped once again and landed face first onto the ice, dragging Mario down with you.
Crawling over to you he helped you sit up, he chuckled nervously, "Maybe we should just start with the basics."
