I was shocked for a moment wondering if this was actually happening. I mean we’d only been around each other for a couple months, but then there was a spark there something that I’d never felt before with anyone else.  I wonder if he’d felt it too. I think Tom noticed my hesitation, but didn’t speak anything of it.

“Tom, we haven’t really known each other that long…”

“It’s okay Hope; I get it you don’t need to explain yourself to me.” He said cutting me off mid-sentence, standing up getting ready to leave.

“I think you misunderstood me I wasn’t turning you down. I was just going to say that I really want to get to know more about you I mean I don’t know your favourite colour or animal is. I would love to be your girlfriend Tom, but I think we need to go on a date” I explained myself hoping he would sit back down again.

“I understand Sweetheart, I’m sorry I jumped to conclusions. But I do really need to go, there’s some things that I need to sort out with Hunter okay, I should be back in a couple hours alright?” He asked coming towards me. He bent down to give me a kiss on the cheek and as soon as his lips made contact I jumped a little.

It felt like I had been electrocuted. Not like crazy electrocuted with the big hair and singed face, obviously, but like I’d just touched a live electric fence and got a shock.  Tom noticed me jump a little and wore a smug grin on his face as he was leaving the room. Just before he left though he turned around quickly,

“Wolf” he said. I must have looked completely bewildered because he added on the end “My favourite animal, Wolf.” That was the last thing he said before walking out for good.

I felt touched though, that he took on board what I said and well I can’t say I’m surprised his favourite animal is a wolf, although I still need to wrap my head round all of this.

I had been sitting in the hospital room on my own for a while until a head popped round the corner I didn’t notice until the voice spoke, startling me.

“Someone looks happy.”  They chirped referring to the smile that must have been on my face whilst I was thinking about Tom.

“MARRR!!” I screamed. You wouldn’t believe how relived I was to see that she was alive and okay, after all this whole situation was because I had put her in danger. If I had never gone to her house that day then Sam wouldn’t have found her and she would have been perfectly safe.

“Stop questioning yourself Hope everything happens for a reason and I’m fine now.” Mar said as she walked into my hospital room.

“I know and I’m sorry Mar I just wish I hadn’t put you in harm’s way.” I said guiltily it was kind of all my fault.

“How about we just forget that it ever happened, yeah?” She asked nicely. I didn’t know how she was able to do that. Be nice and calm after everything that she’s gone through.  It was a good idea though, to do forget that this whole situation ever happened and just move on.

“Sure.” I replied “So how long have you been up and moving around for?” I asked genuinely intrigued.

“It was only about a week before you woke up that I managed to get moving again. You know you saved my life Hope, and Toms as well. All the nurses said that if you hadn’t carried us to the hospital sooner we would have both lost too much blood” I was flabbergasted.  I had saved someone’s life? Not to mention someone that I cared about, or rather two someone’s that I care about.

“Really?” I asked her wanted to check that Mar had gotten her facts right.

“Yeah. Obviously there was a lot of questions about how you managed to carry the two of us and how far you’d had to walk, but Hunter managed to cover it all up” She told me. It was weird though because when Mar spoke Hunters name there was a small smile that came to her face. Whether she was conscious of it or not, I don’t know, but I have a feeling there must be something going on between them.
