Chapter 8: Sing For Me
Thankfully, the rest of the meal passed uneventfully and I had finally managed to vent at my ecstatic best friend who wasn't listening to me but instead blabbing about Jimin and how he could go from being such a mochi to an actual daddy; I MEAN NO SHIT, Jimin is dangerous.
Now it was the following day and after waking up not as late as I would have liked, I dressed casually, planning to go out and explore the area for lunch with Izzy when I got a text message.
"Y/N BTS' manager wants you to go into Big Hit to discuss something. I haven't been disclosed further details. Please make your way there ASAP." Great. What had I done now? Was I going to get kicked out? Fired? Sent back to England?
I didn't bother changing my clothes to save time and effort. I told Izzy, who reassured me it wouldn't be anything bad and said she wouldn't mind hanging around the headquarters so that I could join her after I came out of my meeting.
I flashed my card through the system to allow me in and made my way to the room number that was detailed in the message David sent me. I literally had no clue where I was going but somehow I made it there. I checked my phone, it had been a little under 30 minutes since David had texted me, pretty acceptable. I knocked twice and Bang Si Hyuk opened the door to reveal a small room with a piano and Min Yoongi.
I felt my breath cloy in my throat and my heart beat a little faster recounting the events of last night, why the heck did just seeing him do this to me?! And what happened to the rest of BTS??!
"It's about your test yesterday," the Bang Si Hyuk stated, causing me to swallow hard. I was right, I was being fired, I'd failed and done everything wrong. "The managers and Yoongi here were curious about your ideas for melodies for your lyrics." My mouth was so dry I could barely draw a ragged breath in through my lungs.
Bang Si Hyuk started again, "What we are saying is..."
"Sing for me." Suga stated staring up at me from his position at the piano. I gulped, my body shaking slightly, seemingly held up by the intense gaze. I was not prepared for this, but I could remember the lyrics and the tunes I had mentally composed along with them fairly clearly. One doesn't tend to forget one's work.
"Yoongi will listen and figure out the chords you're singing, since you didn't write the notes yourself, I presume you're not all that confident with instruments." Bang Pd-nim finished. I nodded and cleared my throat, watching Yoongi become focused, his hands elegant but masculine on the keys of his first love.
I began to sing the song, shakily at first in the eerily quiet room for I wasn't too sure of myself but as I made it to the beginning of the second verse, the resounding tune of a piano joined me. I watched him, continuing to sing absent-mindedly captivated by his fingers caressing the keys with ease and peace. I felt myself heat up as we approached the chorus and he played the instrument faster and harder, his hands attacking the keys brutally but with undeniable affection; my voice caught in my throat and came out rough and breathless. He began to harmonise with me, his deep voice sending chills down my spine and making every hair on my body stand on end.
Too soon, we had been through all 3 songs twice, a practise then a rough record on a microphone plugged into the computer on the corner desk. Bang Si Hyuk bustled out of the room; with an explanation about taking it to an office and coming right back. I stood awkwardly in silence, Suga noting something down on the music paper on the piano. He really was so amazingly talented. The opportunity to work with him, BTS and everyone here was so insane I couldn't fathom it.
"I can't get this one part." He muttered, "Can you come closer and sing it again?" I approached the piano, close enough so I could have leant on it and sang again.
"Still can't." He sighed, sliding over on the stool and patting the spot beside him, "here". I obliged and sat carefully next to him, our shoulders ever so slightly brushing due to the seat being small. That contact was enough to make me blush.
"Again" he stated, it didn't seem that he was being blunt or rude, more focused on perfecting his work. I sang again, this time feeling, every time he moved his arms to scale the instrument. The contact point on my shoulder seemed so unbelievably hot I wouldn't have been surprised if I had a burn under my hoodie.
He stopped, causing me to as well, "Y/N" he said, turning to face me. Suddenly we were too close, I could feel his soft breaths brushing my flushing cheeks lightly, his lips ever so slightly parted, his eyes trained on my own; "I got it."
The door was flung open to reveal Bang Pd nim, startled, I stumbled backwards to stand and started babbling aimlessly (Izzy would have been proud). "You got it huh that's good," I blundered, keeping my eyes off Yoongi as I continued, "Did you require me for anything else sir?"
"No," Bang Si Hyuk replied, looking slightly confused, "you're free to go and enjoy your Sunday." I bowed and thanked him before making a frantic exit.
Good lord.
