Chapter 9: An Average Day At Work?

I recounted everything to Izzy after the event and she started talking about Jimin and his luscious lips again. We enjoyed a late lunch and exploring a small part of Seoul. It certainly was a beautiful place, London felt dirty compared to here, no wonder BTS didn't come to England.

Walking to Big Hit Headquarters was less stressful than the mess of the tube every morning. I bit my lip as I pondered if I could handle seeing Suga. Hell nah, I couldn't hold eye-contact with him before, there's no chance I could now.

I turned to Izzy and started talking: "I wonder if they'll tell us the concept for the album today"

She grinned, "They'd better - they're killing us with anticipation!" She paused before taking a more serious look on her face, "I can't wait to actually start working and producing designs, it's so thrilling to be doing something different."

I nodded in agreement, "I needed a change and work might be a useful distraction from... distractions..." We giggled together as we entered the building, scanning our I.D. before making lunch plans and heading to the rooms that were written on our timetables.

I entered the room which was a small office with single desks and at the far end a small conference table and chairs. Scribbled on the whiteboard above it was:

"Theme: Love, trust, acceptance"

Working with the small team of lyricists was great. A girl with black straight hair immediately took a shine to me; she said her name was Kim Eun but that she wanted me to call her Unnie. She was really talented and could sing much better than me as well as play multiple instruments and navigate music software with confidence and ease.

After brainstorming separately, we joined together around the conference table to discuss what we had come up with. While everyone else's ideas shared some coherence, mine were starkly different. Unnie seemed to like them and Zach cutely did a silent clap at me. Jessica ignored it and continued sweet talking an older male lyricist.

The morning passed effortlessly, I loved every minute; Izzy was right, getting to work on a new project was enthralling and liberating. I met her at lunch and we ate in the large canteen cross common room in the headquarters.

The room hushed itself slightly, I looked up to see what was going on to see BTS walking through, slightly damp, presumably from the showers after dance practice. Yoongi's top was sticking slightly to his shoulders from the water, his hair visibly wet and messy even from afar. Then they were gone and the room erupted into excited chatter as did Izzy and I, the effect of BTS still having not worn off yet and by the looks of the people around us, I'm not sure it ever would.

After our lunch break, I made my way back to the office only to have Unnie tell me on arrival that I had to go to ANOTHER meeting with David and that Jessica had already gone and not waited for me. I smiled and said it was okay. Fucking Jessica. I said goodbye to Zach and Sam who were too engrossed in their work to reply before making my way to the conference room where I had first met BTS.

I knocked on the wooden door and entered for the second time, to see members of Brightest Star including Jessica and Izzy, sitting looking excited but perplexed. I said a timid hello before slipping into the closest chair and shooting a WHAT IS GOING ON look to my best friend.

"Now that we are all here," David began at my expense, "we have an announcement to make." He finished, gesturing towards Bang Si Hyuk who sat beside him.

"As you are the elite of the elite," The Korean man flatteringly said, "you all have the opportunity to work exclusively with BTS in order to get a proper understanding of their attitudes and personalities. This will allow for you to produce more fitting and authentic work."

I felt my jaw slacken and I had the uncontrollable urge to slam my head into the desk.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME.
