Chapter 14: A Good Friend

Beep. BEep. BEEp. BEEP.

I peeled my eyes open to find Izzy lounged across my sofa and my alarm ringing furiously at me. I dismissed it and pulled myself from the warm cosy haven of my bed. As much as I felt embarrassed about what happened yesterday there was nothing I could do now, except work my hardest when I'm with Unnie and the other lyricists.

Izzy and I dash to the headquarters, convincing her to get up was certainly a task but she took forever choosing something to wear from my wardrobe, too lazy to go next door to her own. We entered the building and standing in the lobby in workout clothes was BTS.

"Morning guys!" Izzy chirped, going up to them and high fiving, fist bumping or hugging them. I stood awkwardly, my head hanging and watched the whole thing play out, ashamed of how badly I had messed up.

My hair flowed across my vision, it was painful to see them, Izzy knew that so why was she subjecting me to this torture?

"Y/N," my name caught my attention and I stood up straight to be addressed. "When you're available and our schedule allows it, you are going to be with a variation of us."

I gasped eyes wide, why was I suddenly being forgiven for walking out on them?!

"We want to get to know you better and work with you," RM continued, "you have unique and original ideas and we all enjoy hanging out with you.

I swear to the almighty lord above I was going to cry again, my hand clasped over my mouth in shock and pure joy.

"You're not just our lyricist, you're our friend."

That did it. Tears trickled from my eyes and I was enveloped in a group hug, Izzy grinning and clinging to me tightest of all.

"Did you do this?!" I laughed through the tears at her,

"Guilty as charged! Fucking lock me up bitch." she cackled along with me.

I looked at BTS, a week ago my heroes, now my friends.

Yoongi stood at the back of the bubbling group, eyes closed leaning on the reception desk, his black cherry hair swept slightly sideways with the angle of his head. It made me want to touch it so badly, to run my hands through it – I should have been a hair stylist.

His eyes flickered open to catch me staring at him. I felt my face heat up as I cautiously tried a smile. His lips curled up effortlessly as he shut his eyes again. I wonder if he was up late when he got home last night too.

After another 10 or so minutes, BTS had to leave for some meeting or dance practice so Izzy left with them and I made my way up to the lyricist room to tell Unnie the good news.

I spilled the news at my elder and talked about her date last night before she told shooed me away saying that she had deadlines coming up soon and needed to work.

I plonked myself in my chair and logged in, remaking my background the BTS photo. I opened my emails to check for any new work or projects. My inbox was full with forwarded emails from my boss. I swallowed and opened the most recent; it was a demand to video call him as soon as I received the email, thankfully it was only half an hour old. I pulled him up on video call and he answered instantly, the sight of him making me cringe and feel on edge, even from thousands of miles away.

"Y/N" he slurred, "I need you to have all the songs you're currently working on finished so you can do all the ones I have emailed you this morning-"

"Sir," I said astounded, "the projects I'm currently working on require at least 3 sets of complete high quality lyrics with demo tracks and for me to converse and edit ideas with the artist or their team"

"What's your point?" He sneered, leaning closer to the camera, "Are you challenging my authority?"

"N-no Sir," I stuttered, "j-just that they require a fair bit of t-time t-to develop..."

A cold smirk grew across his sullen face, "You have plenty of time. I want everything I have sent you to be completed for the 1st of November."

He ended the call and I sat back in my chair in a state of shock. After a while the initial bewilderment wore off and I made a chronological list of the projects I had to complete.

As well as working daily on the BTS project and seeing BTS when I had the free time, I had to complete an additional 47 projects with various western artists of different degrees of popularity, 4 of which required entire albums to be produced. My shoulders felt unbearably heavy, the pressure on me growing a little more.
