Wednesday 29th November ~ 11:43am
Mark's POV:
"Police are still struggling to find leads after the massacre at a gas station outside Brighton that took place early in the morning two days ago. The mass stabbing left thirteen dead and five more with severe injuries, and among those taken to hospital was Mark Fischbach - the missing YouTuber believed to be dead after going missing weeks just over two weeks ago."
A picture of me appeared in the left hand corner of the screen, the rest showing footage of the all too familiar crime scene. Paramedics and police swarmed the place.
"Despite connections having been made between Fischbach's disappearance and that of Séan McLoughlin, another YouTuber who went missing days before Fischbach, reports say McLoughlin has yet to be found.
The attacker at the gas station is said to still be at large and any information on the-"
"Mr Fischbach?"
My gaze found the officers in the doorway.
I had to look over the wilting flower bouquet at my bedside to see them, yet even as I watched their lips move I had little care about the words they spoke. My mind was in the past.
The scenes were looping in my head again.
Jack's video call. Anti's slashing spree at the gas station. Watching Jack's torture. Trying to help him with the demon that messed with his head.
I was powerless in all of those situations.
No matter how I looked at it, I was a failure.
"Mark? Sweetie?"
My mother sat beside me on the hospital bed, a light hand on my shoulder. I blinked.
She brought warmth to the sterile room.
"These officers just need you to tell them what happened." She said, giving me a sad smile. "Do you want me to come with you honey?"
Going in general seemed like the worst idea in the world. I would have to refuse to answer questions or lie.
I couldn't tell them about Dark and Anti without sounding like a raving lunatic.
"No... it's okay, Mom."
I rose from the bed, dizzy with a headache starting. It was minor in comparison to how it had been before. Not that it mattered.
Jack still felt the same way.
Or maybe he didn't feel anything at all.
"Alright baby, just call me if you change your mind and I'll be right there." My mother assured me. "I love you."
I smiled to her weakly.
"I love you too, Mom."
I followed behind the two officers - deep in thought. This needed to be quick.
This interview wasn't going to help anyone. I couldn't tell them the truth. The police wouldn't get any closer to finding him.
Séan McLoughlin was probably dead already.
And I had done nothing to prevent it.

I jolted up, slamming the tabletop. The officer jumped a mile.
"I told you I don't know where Séan is! Don't you think if I fucking knew I'd tell you?!"
"Mr Fischbach, please - sit back down, and just-"
"He's my best friend for FUCK'S SAKE!-"
"Nobody's accusing you of lying!"
I sunk back in the fold out chair, tears stinging the edges of my eyes.
"It's just a little strange that you and Mr McLoughlin were in captivity together and yet you know nothing about who took you or what they wanted."
"I just - I just don't. They covered their faces."
I put my head in my hands. The pounding wouldn't stop. The tears wouldn't stop threatening to spill.
All I could think about was Séan. The lying was killing me.
Then again it might've already killed him.
"Officer Hale, let Mr Fischbach get some rest. He's had a hard few weeks."
The woman opposite me nodded, unnerved by my outburst yet trying to act professional.
"Understood. Interview suspended at 1:16pm. We'll be in contact for a follow up interview in-"
I was up and out of the interrogation room before I could hear the rest.
Determined to find Séan.
