Flushed Cheeks Are Such A Huge Giveaway

Its been a few days since I started my first training session with Mother Nature. Since then I have been training almost everyday, both physically and magically. I have also actively been avoiding Chase, I count be able to handle all the teasing and embarrassment that could come with it. I mean who cares about boys, especially him. I just need to focusing on training, nothing more, nothing less. 

"Carter!" I turned around towards Cora, who was running after me screaming my name. I tensed up. Had something happened? Are we under attack again? Im not ready to fight yet! I only can fight with a bow! She suddenly stopped, and the carpet slipped under her momentum and she almost fell backwards but regained her balance just in time to not collide with me. 

"Were going exploring today!" She beamed at me, I gawked at her. 

"What! Thats what you were running at me for? I thought something bad had happened!" I punched her in the arm, a little harder then I meant to. She grinned at me.

"Your definitely not as shy as you used to be." She's right, I definitely had a lot more confidence then I used to, guess being surrounded by bullies and isolation does that to people. Who could have imagined.

Mother Nature had something to do today so I had a day off of training, so instead of sitting around they decided that we are going exploring to the places we didn't have enough time to go to before the disaster or a ball. The Enchanted Forest and Dragon Mountain. Im really excited for the enchanted forest, Rai has been telling me about some of the animals that we could see while we are there. She told me about the golden deer and the 8 tailed fox, she said maybe we could even see a Nemean Lion, she told me that they are really gentle and soft, but elusive. Its so strange for me to be able to see all these animas that were supposed to be myth, but were actually real. It feels like I'm dreaming, or losing my mind. Yeah, losing my mind sounds about right.  

I walked with Cora to the gates of the castle, where she had told me the others would be waiting. She seemed jittery and practically bursting at the seems with excitement. Jax was mimicking her excitement and would run ahead of us suddenly then wait for us to catch up, before running again. I wasn't going to ask at first, but she wast only getting on my nerves, but she was also getting ahead of my curiosity. 

"Why are you so excited?!" I finally asked, she stopped and grinned wider, if possible. 

"Well I am a shapeshifter, I can transform into any animals, but only if I bond with them first, same goes with Rai, she can only adapt to the strengths of animals she bonded with. Thats part of our disadvantage, but this also made me an extremely curious person."

"So all the creatures Ive seen you transform in to, have been creatures that you have bonded with?" 

"Yup!"

"But haven't you been to the Enchanted forest? I mean you do live here." 

"Well I have been once, thats where I got the giant wolf transform from, its one of my favorites to. But the enchanted forest is really protected and really selective, its almost impossible to get in."

"Then how did you get in? Better yet, how do we plan to get in?"

"I was little, I wandered in by accident and the forest accepted me, thats were I met the Dire Wolfs, they let me bond with them. As for getting in, we have someone coming with us that is from the Enchanted forest, if we come with them, that means that we can get in as long as we mean no ill will." 

"And who is this person?" She smirked at me.

"You'll see." I frowned, who was this person?

After what feels like a mile we finally reached the main gates where the rest were waiting. Talena and Rai were both chatting excitedly, probably just as excited as Cora is. Clem and Jen with both playing what looks like a really intense game of rock, paper, scissors. Behind them however, made the blood rush to my cheeks. There in the middle of them was Chase, looking over some papers, I looked back at Cora, who was sharing an evil smirk with Talena, no doubt that they teamed up together to basically destroy my sanity. 

"You are from the Enchanted forest?" I asked Chase when we got close enough. He looked up at me and made eye contact, the tips of his ears turned red and he quickly turned away, nodding quickly. 

"Awww," They all had cooed. 

'Shut you traps." I muttered angrily, my head tucked down to hide the obvious blush in my cheeks. 

"You definitely like each other." Clem said in my ear, but still loud enough that Cora could hear. She snickered next to me. 

"I do not," I said defensively. 

"Ya know," Talena spoke up from next to Cora, "flushed cheeks are such a huge giveaway."
