Chapter 21 - The Pain

Jessica's P.O.V.

I touched Blake on the shoulder and she flinched. As reflex I pulled my hand away.

"Blake." I almost cried her name.

I'm so scared. I don't want to hurt her. I look around and see Silver unconscious behind me. Shit I have to do something about that sack of dicks. My vision become red with rage now that everything has set it. Before I could do anything remotely reckless and stupid I felt a wet and cold hand touch my leg.

I whipped my head around and glared in reaction. My mind was hazy with anger but it vanished instantly once I saw that the hand belonged to Blake. It took her effort to sit up. Her whole body weight was against the foor I could tell by the way she was hunched over. That must be painful especially with how badly hurt she is. But despite all that she still looked at me the same. Despite having one of the closets people in her life wish she had not been born and died with the rest of our clan she still looked at me the same.

With those soft hetrochromia eyes. Her light blue and light green eyes. I sobbed and I jumped into her arms. I could tell she held back a howl of pain just for my sake which made me feel worse but she was okay. I actually did something. I saved her. I let go of her.

"I'll call for an ambulance and guards," I fumbled with the dial pad.

Failing twice to get the right numbers until Blake helped me. She silently wiped my tears but that only made them fall harder. I feel pathetic. I shouldn't be the one crying. Through sobs I managed to tell the operator to send help. While they were on the way I made sure to keep an eye on Silver; who now had a clogged up bloody nose, to make sure he doesn't wake up. And to keep an eye on Blake to make sure she stays awake till the ambulance gets here.

The medics and guards arrive in Godspeed. Silver was taken away to a detainment cell where he will get patched there. And Blake was taken to the best hospital there was which just so happens to be the one Sapphire works at. I can't wait to explain what happened. I let loose a shaky breath as I held Blake's hand through the trip to the hospital.

Once we arrived, they had to forcefully pull me away from Blake. I didn't want to be apart I had to make sure she was okay. While my mind drifted in and out of consciousness, Sapphire approached. He looked calm and collected but I could see the fire burning in his eyes.

I explained the whole situation to him. He ran his fingers through his hair only to pull on roots of his hairs. If I didn't stop him his light blue hair would be no more. I could feel his frustration.

"I should've done something sooner." I closed my eyes. I felt a warm pair of hands on my shoulders.

"It doesn't help thinking that way. Blake is alive and in a stable state right now thanks to you," he smiled reassuringly, "do not beat yourself down about what you should've done."

Sapphire was right. Blake is strong and she's already stabilised. I let loose a long breath and everything faded away as all the energy had left my body.
