I'm all ready to go when my phone starts going off like crazy. I look down at my phone screen to see an unknown number is calling. I pick up on the third ring.

"Hello?" I speak quietly.

"Hello, is this Savanna?" a lady on the other line asks.

"Yea, why?" I ask.

"Oh hi sweetie, I'd like to inform you that your mom checked herself into the Buffalo Psychiatric Center."

Well shit.

Well shit.

This is not good.

I let out a big huff before running upstairs to change into jeans and a old hoodie. Hopefully Zach doesn't find out about this, I have no idea how he'll react. It probably won't be good either.

By the time I get there my hands are shaking like crazy. The lady at the desk is nice enough to escort me to where my moms room is.

"Thank you," I tell her before she struts away.

I knock on the door two times before placing my hands behind my back.

"Come in," a voice announces.

It's not my mothers voice so maybe she has a roommate? I honestly have no idea. I don't know how these places are in the real world. So far all I've seen is empty hallways and lots of doors. No screams like in the movies.

I turn the knob and give the door a little push. When I step inside I expect to see my mom in a straightjacket or sitting in the corner muttering nonsense. But neither of those ideas is what I see.

My mom is sitting crisscross on the floor playing Scrabble while eating peanuts. The voice belongs to a woman around my moms age with jet black hair.

"Savanna! So glad you could make it!" My mom stands up and hugs me before sitting back down.

She invites me to sit down and play scrabble with her but I reject her little invite and stand with my arms at my side.

"Mom could I talk to you in peace?" I ask as politely as I can.

"Savanna this is Beth, Beth this is Savanna," my mom says.

Beth mumbles a hello and smiles at me.

"Hi," I mutter back, "Mom I need to talk to you in peace."

"Hun, would you like to play scrabble with us? Beth is kicking my ass but I don't think she could kick yours," my mom rambles on.

"Mom I need to talk to you alone, please," I say to her again.

"Or maybe try a peanut? They're del-"

"MOM! I need to talk to you in private!" I yell at her.

Beth and her, both flinch a bit and seem startled.

"Very well, do you mind Beth?" my mom asks.

"No, of course not at all," she mutters before getting up and exiting the room.

"What the hell was that?!" My mom yells immediately after Beth leaves.

"Why are you in here?" I shake my head at her.

"I feel like this is where I belong, if I spent another minute in that house I would have gone actually insane," she looks down at her lap.

"But you're my mom, you are supposed to be driven insane by Zach and I," I tell her.

"I guess," she laughs.

"Please come home, this isn't where you belong," I say.

I kiss her on the forehead before leaving. I don't want this ruining my weekend. My phone vibrates in my pocket twice. I slid it out and see I got a text message from Marcus.

'Excited for tonight? Bc I am :)'
