It was a Saturday morning, I had woken up somewhere around 8 and walked downstairs to make some coffee. We agreed to not have training lessons on weekends to give everyone some time to rest, so I didn't have anything planned for the day. I heard steps coming towards the kitchen and Ryker's scent invaded the room, he sat down on one of the stools and put an envelope on the table.
"What's this?" I asked curiously, he made a gesture for me to open it.
"I don't know, it came in the mail, your Alpha's name's on it," he replied, his voice still deep from sleeping. Who would've known he got mail. I walked towards the table and grabbed it.
Right he was, Alpha's name was written neatly on the envelope, curious, I opened it quickly but carefully. I moved my eyes over the handwritten letters.
"It's an invitation. To have dinner with the pack, in the pack house," Ryker raised an eyebrow questioningly.
"That's pretty much all it says. I'm not sure if they want me there, too, or is it just for you," Ryker shook his head.
"You're coming with me. When's it?" I moved my eyes to the bottom of the letter.
"Tonight."
———
Dinner was at 7. I spent most of the afternoon cleaning up the house and playing with Murphy, because both of those things were necessary, but playing with Murphy was nothing but pure fun. I also had made a plan to one day drag Ryker to a home decor store, because his house lacked the cozy vibe, but that wasn't really at the top of my priority list.

I felt my phone buzz in my pocked and checked the notification, it was a text from Liv, asking me what I was going to wear tonight. Suddenly I remembered I hadn't really packed up any of my dresses from my parents' house, only the most necessary things when I came here, but the dinner seemed to be a bit fancier, so I would probably need one.
Mad at my stupidity, I walked upstairs to talk to Ryker and tell him I'd be going to get a dress from there and be back soon. The thought of just getting ready at Liv's place also crossed my mind for a second, but I buried it quickly, not wanting to leave Ryker to come there by himself.
The door of his room was slightly ajar, so I looked inside and found it empty. Where could he be then?
"Most Alphas have offices, you know, maybe you should look for one," said Faith somewhat mockingly, but she was right. I checked the time and saw it was already close to 4, so if I wanted to be back by at least 6pm, I'd have to go immediately.
"Could you mind link his wolf and tell him where we're going? I really don't have the time to look for him," I asked Faith, she didn't answer, but I took that as a yes. Ryker and I couldn't mind link yet, because we hadn't mated, but our wolves could.
I rushed back downstairs to get my jacket and boots, but before I could step out of the house, Ryker's hand on my shoulder stopped me and made me turn around.
"Be back as soon as you can, I mean it, pick up that thing you need and come back  immediately, okay?" I nodded, his voice not
leaving any room to argue.
"And if anything happens, let your wolf call out to mine," I nodded again and rushed out.
———
My mom was happy to see me, as was I. She pulled me in a hug and didn't let go for a good minute. I had missed her, too. She was the only one home, Dad and Cole were out, doing some kind of beta duties, since Cole would be the next beta.
"I need to go back soon, I'm only here to pick up a dress for dinner," I said and she was forced to let me go. I ran upstairs and back in record time, a black dress placed neatly into my small backpack. I gave my mom
another hug and promised her a longer chat at dinner.
——
I was sitting in the kitchen, waiting for Ryker to get ready. See? It's not always males that have to wait for females. I just hadn't bothered to get my hair too curly or put too much makeup on my face, since everyone at that dinner were people from my pack anyway. Ryker on the other hand, seemed to be hand-sewing his suit in his room or something, because he was taking too damn long.
I heard someone clear his throat and immediately turned around, how hadn't I heard him before? The sight of him made my heart skip a beat or three. He was wearing a black suit and his hair was different somehow, more neat, the only thing out of place was the black tie that was hanging from his neck at a weird angle.
He seemed to understand the direction of my thoughts.
"I kind of need help with that," He said, coming up to me. I smiled and stood up. I placed my hands on his tie, completely undoing and then doing it a few moments later. Then, I gathered up my courage, put my hands on his shoulders and watched him dead in the eye.
"You look handsome," I didn't leave him any time to reply, because I was already headed out to his car.
——
The pack house was decorated beautifully, nothing seemed to be out of place. I gave away my coat, Ryker didn't have one, and we walked further into the house. Every single pack member seemed to be here, the house was filled with people.
"Hey, I'm gonna go find Liv, do you wanna come with me or will you be okay by yourself?" I asked him, sure he wouldn't want to come with me.
"I'll come with you, I can already see the males looking at you like you're a piece of meat," He growled put lowly and placed his arm around my waist. I looked around, but definitely didn't catch anyone looking at me.
"They're probably looking at you, you know. Many of them have only heard stories about you," He shook his head, not agreeing with me. On the other hand, I could also see the females of our pack send flirty looks in his direction, and giggling loudly as we walked past him. That sent a wave of possessiveness over me as well and I sent a glare towards all of them.
"You're definitely the one they're looking at," I said quietly.

Hey, I'm sorry for the long wait and many time skips in this chapter. This one's also more of a filler one, but there will be some action in the next one.
