Leon layed on his single bed, his eyes gazing towards the ceiling. Crickets chirped loudly outside his window as night time finally began to settle in. The air was foggy, giving the outside area an eerie feeling. It was a little past midnight when he had awoken from his dream and he hadn't been able to drift back into sleep since.
Even though he was comfrontable laying on his soft mattress, he still couldn't find the will to close his eyes and continue his rest. Leon's dream had been haunting him since the day he graduated. He tried everything he could to get rid of that dream, but taking hot relaxing baths and going to bed early wasn't going to cut it.
He tossed and turned under the maroon blanket until he finally found a decent position on his back. For the past hour and a half, he had stared up at the ceiling, watching the fan slowly turn, hoping that the light spins would hypmotize him into a deep slumber.
Leon was wrong again. Nothing was working. The dream couldn't simply disappear just like that. Maybe it was because it was one of the worst memories he had ever had.
It was near the end of the second semester of his junior year. Things had run smoothly for him. He was placed into advanced classes, scored the highest on his tests, became the star athlete, and even getting himself a girlfriend.
She was a little one who had a big mouth. Her height was that of a twelve year old and her voice could be heard ten miles away from where she stood. Sometimes even further.
Leon didn't mind how loud she was. He just saw it simply as one of the things he loved about her. To him, she was the cutest girl he had ever laid eyes on, and he began having a crush on her.
He had asked her out during lunch in front of everyone. She had said 'yes' and things took their toll from there. They held hands, kissed, hugged, went out, and did everything else a typical teenaged couple would. He even thought about asking her to marry him a few years after college.
At the end of their senior year, things hadn't turned out in the way he had been hoping for. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just one look at the sight made his blood boil with rage.
His girlfriend had been making out with some Greek guy who also atteneded the same high school. Leon had never been more hurt than he was at the moment. He didn't cry, yell, or do anything. He just simply walked off. That's how his dream ends. Leon just turning the corner and walking off.
I wish I could've just yelled, right then and there, he thought. But I didn't, I couldn't. If she wanted to be with someone else then fine, go ahead. First you love me with all your heart, then you crumple me up as if I was a piece of paper.
"Leon?"
Leon turned his head and looked at the bed several feet away from him. For a few brief minutes, he had forgotten that he and his brother share a room. "Hey," he whispered back. He turned on his side and rested his cheek against his hand, his elbow resting on the mattress. "Did I wake you?"
Yong Soo shook his head and let out a large yawn that lasted for what felt like five minutes. "No, I just sudden woke up. What are you doing up?" he asked tiredly, his curl drooping down. Leon sighed and went back to his position on his back. "Nothing, I just had a dream."
"Oh, do you mean-"
"Yup."
Yong Soo yawned again and snuggled back into his pillow, curled up in large fuzzy purple blankets. "Dude, just forget about her," he mumbled. "She's history now." Leon stared back up towards the ceiling. "Well, it's not that easy," he grumbled. "Believe me, if I could, I would."
"Then why don't you?"
"It's not that simple."
"Well then, make it simple."
"How?"
"I don't know."
Leon smiled and relaxed the tension that had built up in his body moments after he had woken up. "Yeah, yeah, I'll try." he mumbled. "Good." Yong-Soo said while letting out a large yawn. "Well, I'm going to bed now, da-ze~. Good night bro."
"Good Night."
He watched as his older brother drifted off into another deep slumber. I bet he is dreaming about his crush, he thought with a chuckle. He is still obessed with her, after all these years."
Leon's smile faded as he continued to stare up at the dark ceiling, thinking about his ex. "It's not that easy to forget when you still have the feelings for them."
