"Oh my God, can you believe we are going to THE Tokyo Japan?"
"Not really, but I mean, it didn't come to me as a surpirse. We were the top ten to graduate, you know."
Leon flipped to the next page in his student handbook. It was the only thing, besides his phone, that could keep him occupied on the plane ride to Japan. It had only been a few hours, but it seemed way longer at least to him.
The sumer break had gone by so fast. Even Leon and Yong Soo hadn't realized it themselves. It was a good thing Yao had rushed thier packing schedule to the max. By the time the day had come to depart from home, both boys had aching backs and sore biceps from lifting the heavy boxes.
Yong Soo was extremely excited for the trip. He kept fidgeting in his seat, crossing and uncrossing his legs, or twiddling with his thumbs. Leon on the other hand, was still and calm. Plane rides weren't really a big deal to him. He had flown to London and back several times when he was a child. This was almost like a family car ride for him. Except with Yong Soo.
Leon continued to flip through the hand guide. His thumb stopped on the 'Who Will You Meet?' page. He elbowed Yong Soo and held the book in front of him. "Hmm, what is it bro?" Yong Soo asked as he pulled down his head phones. Leon handed him the guide and leaned over to look with his brother. Yong Soo took the guide and scaned through the pages. "Woah! Are these the people who will also be attending?" Leon nodded. "I guess so."
"Any hot girls?"
"How should I know? I haven't even looked through it yet."
Yong Soo yawned as he flipped through the pages. "These people look like geeks, are we really going to attend school with-" Leon turned and looked up at his brother. "What's wrong?" he asked. Yong Soo's cheeks turned a chrimson red. Now Leon was concerned. "What?" Yong Soo pointed to one of the pictures on the female side. Leon looked over it. "No way..." he gasped. It was Scotty, a close friend to him.
Leon had known her since he was a boy. She always took care of him, making sure he got everything he needed when Yao wasn't there. Scotty was like a big sister to him and he hadn't seen her in so long. She moved away during their Junior Year of highschool. He was devastated.
Yong Soo on the other hand, was worse. He sobbed about her depature for days, crying into his pillow. He had fallen in love with her and had a huge crush on her since elementary school. Everytime he confessed his love to Scotty, she simply shook her head and said, "I'm sorry, but... I don't know." Yong Soo did feel crushed, but he never gave up. He texts her every single day and made a promise to her that he would see her again.
And now he would finally see his Scotty again.
Leon looked over her picture. She looked the same. Her copper hair that fell to her shoulders, those unique green eyes that ran in her family of brothers. She was one the prettiest women Leon had ever seen in his life. Her pale skin was flawless and her thick eyebrows (another genetic trait) made her give off a serious expression. Yong Soo loved evey single thing about her, and Leon could see why.
"Scotty... is going to be there?" Yong Soo whispered. His eyes teared up with happiness. He sniffed and wiped away the tears beginning to flow. "I won't let her get away this time, Leon. I promise." Leon chuckled and ruffled Yong Soo's spiky hair. "Yeah, yeah, you better not let her get away."
"Of course not, da-ze~! My heart belongs to her!"
"I'm sure it does."
"You bet!"
Leon reached over and removed Yong Soo's hand that was clutching the page. "Okay, okay, you can mush over her later. I want to see who else it going." Yong Soo stuck out his bottom lip, giving Leon the puppy face. Leon sighed and removed his brother's hand. "Just for a little bit." he promised. Yong Soo pouted and crossed his arms. "Fine, da-ze~. Make it quick though."
"Thank you." Leon said as he took the book. He flipped through several more pages. He recognized most of the female students attending. They had all been his friends back in highschool. Leon stopped on the 'V' section and scanned the page. His heart skipped a beat as his cheeks got hotter.
Yong Soo leaned against the window and glanced over. He quickly sat up and put a hand on Leon's shoulder. "Hey are you okay man?" He asked worridly. Leon shook his head and pointed to a girl's photo. "Eh?" Yong Soo looked at the photo and gasped. "Ohhhhh...."
It was Leon's ex girlfriend. She smiled in the photo. Her long dark wavy hair trailing down her shoulders and her back, tied neatly up in a pony tail. Her large brown eyes stared back into his as he tried to figure out what was going to become of this.
Sanny had become a thing in the past now and it didn't help much that she was now going to be attending the same university for who knows how long. He calmly closed the book and tossed it into his back pack that was sitting beside his feet.
"Dude, what's wrong? I mean, she's long gone from your-"
"No, it's not that..."
"Well then, what is it? Spit it out Leon!"
"I still love her!"
Everyone on the plane turned back to stare at the two boys causing the comotion. A flight attendent quickly hurried over, her blonde curls bouncing in eagerness to help. "Sir, is everything alright?" she questioned as she leaned down towards Leon.
Yong Soo shook his head and wrapped an arm around Leon's shoulder. "No, he's okay. He just woke up from his nap. He's a little confused so-"
"I was not-"
Yong Soo stepped on Leon's foot, warning him to shut up. The flight attendent nodded. "Well okay then. If you need anything, just call." She arose from Leon and walked back to her station in the back of the plane. Yong Soo grabbed Leon's shoulder and pulled him down. "Wait, you still love her?"
"Maybe..."
"'Maybe' isn't an answer."
"Yes."
Yong Soo gave Leon a wide grin and turned away giggling. Leon blushed and looked over at his childish brother. "What's so funny?" he demanded
"Now we can both get girlfriends, da-ze~!"
Leon gave his brother a frown. Yong Soo stopped giggling like a school girl and looked over. "What's wrong?" Leon sighed and rubbed his temples. "That's not going to happen."
Yong Soo cocked his head. "How do you know?"
"I just know."
Both boys closed their eyes yawned. It was a least two a.m. now. Yong Soo reached up and grabbed his pillow from the carry-on rack. He pressed it against the window, fluffed it a few times, and laid his head against it, blushing. Leon rested his head on his brother's broad shoulder. "Boo..." Yong Soo mumbled into his pillow. 'Boo' was his special nickname for Scotty. Everyone thought it was adorable, even her.
Leon opened his eyes half way and listened to his brother's steady breathing, entering and leaving his body. Maybe I'll dream about my girl too, he thought. Wouldn't hurt to try.
He closed his eyes and calmed his breaths as he fell into an immedient slumber. This school year would be anything but normal.
