Sarah went back to the hotel escorted by Justin's security. She was beaming with joy. Yesterday seemed ages ago and all she could remember were the intense, most magical moments of her life in the hospital room with Justin.
As she entered her room, her eyes moved to her parents sitting on the couch.
"We've been worried sick! Where have you been all night?! Thank God for that Alfredo person from Justin's crew called us to let us know that you were ok. SARAH MARIE YOU WILL NOT RUN AWAY LIKE THAT. NEVER AGAIN."Sarah's mother's voice echoed throughout the room.
She knew she owed them and explanation for running away for the night and not returning their calls but now was not the right time.
She was too exhausted. She needed to wash herself off of the long weary night.
"Sorry," she muttered under her breath. "I really need to shower first."
Her mother trotted out of the room grumbling.
However, her father stayed. Just as she was about to open the closet, he put his hand on her shoulder. Startled, she spun around.
"I know it was long day...long night for you. I saw the news. How is he doing?"
His eyes glistened wanting his baby girl to cling to him and give a full account of what happened, right from the terrible to the magical. But she decided against letting yesterday replay again.
Part of her wanted to relive the magical moment but that would come at the cost of repeating the worst that had already taken place.
She flung her arms around daddy and cried; well she did not break down completely. Half of her was happy that she could vent out her feelings to someone she trusted completely but the other half wanted to keep things on the low.
"He is going to be alright, dad. He just needs some time, a little more than the others to recover completely. I know he can. I love him dad. I really do."
Sarah felt her father's warm caressing hand pat her back.
Before leaving the room, he squeezed her palm and said, "He will be fine. You both will be fine."
The assuring smile gave Sarah a new hope, something she needed just then.
When she was with Justin nothing else mattered. It was just them - two young people who loved each other immensely and had total faith in each other. But it was not the same with the world.
Her thoughts were going the wrong way.
Finally slipping the black dress down her body, she stepped in the shower. Before the first droplet made contact with her body, sweat trickled down her neck.
She remembered Justin's bruised hand being on there last night. The way they kissed...they was the electricity had shot through her body on being touched by Justin...it all felt so perfect, so surreal.
She was jolted back to reality as the water gushed down the shower and crashed on her tired little body.
How can she be continuing this with Justin when she knew it was impossible for them to come out together as a couple in front of the world?
She was strong, stronger than most of the girls her age, but the thought of being hunted down by the haters was seemingly too much for her. You will not last with him. Her subconscious added. She tried to push her back but she was too strong to resist.
Sarah knew how terribly Justin's last relationship had failed because the fame had gotten the girl and the haters had their share too in the break-up. They had humiliated her in every possible way.
Sarah couldn't let that happen to her. She couldn't let the fame or the haters get in her way. She couldn't stand to lose Justin. Her Justin.
