"Gaito Kurouzu." I heard my name being called and went up to receive my paper.

I peered at it. 

And sighed. With both relief and frustration.

I had passed.

By 3 marks.

There, it was; a 23/40 written in red staring at me in the face.

I'm so terrible at essays. I didn't expect that to be my destiny.

I picked up my paper and looked at it.....................

I'd barely passed.

"Chihiro! Kiri! How much did ya guys get!" I turned to them first, since they were the nearest to me.

"Look, Gao! I got a 34!!!!" Kiri shoved the paper into my face in excitement.....................................then caught a glimpse of my score and blushed. "Oh........sorry........"

I sighed. "Don't worry about it, man. What about you, Chihiro?"

She didn't say anything, but her face was flushed. She answered by giving me her paper.

Me and Kiri peered at it in interest.

All of us met up on the roof.

Tasuku beamed at us. "So how were your results?"

Tetsuya glared at the writing paper in his hand and crushed it. "Terrible, yo."

Baku sighed. "You don't wanna know, bro."

Kazane bit her lip. "Fine, I guess........"

Zanya and Kanata, as usual, got high marks, 35 and 37 respectively. Kanata seemed to be the highest among us.

Until Gao, Chihiro and Kiri, who had taken a longer time to pack their bags than Baku and Noboru, arrived.

"JUST SPIT IT OUT ALREADY!!!!!" Noboru was getting impatient

"Fine, fine.................CHIHIRO GOT THE HIGHEST SCORE IN HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Huh?"

"I don't get you, bro......"

"Chihiro got a perfect score!!!" Kiri explained, grinning.

What?!

How can this be?

Nobody's gotten 40/40 for an essay before!!!

But the proof was there before our eyes. I took Chihiro's paper and stared at the score written there.

I stared at her in disbelief. "How did you do this?!"

She blushed. "Oh, it's nothing...........I get this a lot back in where I came from. So do others."

Still, we crowded around her, praising and envying her talent. Especially Zanya and Kanata. Those two are crazy over her. 

Well, actually I kind of admire her as well, to be honest, but not at that level of fandom where they have to turn to see her all the time. I mean, she's smart! Kind of pretty too actually. Not that I would swoon over that. Definitely not my destiny to do that.

Still, she's pretty outstanding. Who knows what will turn up next? It's all up to our destinies.
