Finn who was now done gazing at the painting, planted himself on one of the couches before waving his hand at his brother while smiling for he had waited so long to hear his brother sing again.

Making sure that the coast was clear just one more time was the reassurance that Kurt needed, checking his watch he saw that the time read 4:30 so he knew that he had only an hour before the Warblers practice was to begin and that he would have to take Finn and himself and hide somewhere else as he did not want the Warblers to see him.

Sitting at the piano he beckoned Finn over and patted the seat beside him, he knew that he did not want to let his mask down even for a second but maybe Finn was right, maybe by doing it just this once would be enough to hold him for the rest of his life then he could go back to his shy and quiet self.

Finn who was watching his brothers movements and reactions could see if not hear the internal conflict he was having and took it upon himself to play the first few notes to the song that was written on the painting.

Hearing those few notes made Kurt flash into a flashback and he no longer saw himself in Dalton, no he saw himself with his mother, at home and smiling while singing with his heart,

Taking this as an indication to start Kurt softly began to sing but as the memory slipped away he saw himself dancing and smiling with his brother when the course came, he did not care who was around he felt safe with his brother and like his mind reminded him, the Warblers were still in class so they would not be able to see him act like his true self.

  "Midnight
Not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone

In the lamplight
The withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Memory
All alone in the moonlight
I can dream of the old days
Life was beautiful then

I remember
The time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

Every streetlamp
Seems to beat
A fatalistic warning

Someone mutters
And a streetlamp gutters
And soon it will be morning

Daylight
I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I mustn't give in

When the dawn comes
Tonight will be a memory, too
And a new day will begin

Burnt out ends of smokey days
The stale, cold smell of morning

The streetlamp dies
Another night is over
Another day is dawning

Touch me
It's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory

Of my days in the sun (Days in the sun)

If you touch me

You'll understand what happiness is
Look, a new day

Has begun (Has begun)"

When he finished the song, he felt so happy, singing was what he loved to do and in this place when he was alone it was something that he could do, yet a nagging thought in the back of his mind was bugging Kurt, would he ever be able to sing in front of anyone other than his brother.

Finn who saw his brothers eyes twinkle with a new found strength decided to risk it and texted the Warblers Wes and Trent who he had ran into while trying to sneak in the school and told them to get their captain and the rest of the Warblers and go through the back entrance of the music room and hide behind the furniture.

Making a new and bold decision Kurt wanted to sing another song for he still had time before he had to turn back into his mute self and he felt so alive while singing that he did not want to stop.

Turning to face his brother who was waiting patiently while having his hands in position he asked Finn to pick a song for him to sing that would truly test his vocals, something that had emotion but yet made him still sing to is hearts content.
