The bright morning sun rays crept into the silent room causing Kurt to stir in his dreamless sleep, all was too quiet within the school, there was no laughing or the eager chatting of any of the students. Noticing this change, Kurt gradually blinked and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and peered around the room that he was not resting in. To his astonishment the music room was no where in site, no instead he seemed to be in what appeared to be his dorm room for he could see the fashion magazines and Disney movies that belonged to his roommate Nick. Not understanding how he got into his dorm last night, he peeled the covers off his body and stood up real fast when he noticed that in the corner of the opposite end of the room there were many curious and concerned faces gazing at him.
Each of the Warblers were either standing up straight, leaning on the wall, or even sitting on the floor awaiting for Kurt to awaken from his slumber. When they saw that he was now standing up, Blaine and Wes ran to their friend and grabbed his arms before he fell back onto the bed from getting up too fast. Once they saw that he was not going to fall over they each released their grip on his arms and went back to where they were standing before, hopping that the distance would ease some of Kurt's worries.
The young boy not remembering how he had got to the dorm easily put the puzzle pieces together and came to the conclusion that the Warblers must have followed him and when they saw him passed out, took it as their queue to carry him back to his dorm where he could be much more comfortable. The thought brought a blush to his cheeks for when he looked down to his night attire he could see Blaine's warbler jacket wrapped around his shoulders, almost like a protective cocoon.
Blaine who was watching the reactions on Kurt's face could not help but smile when he noticed that Kurt was now hugging his jacket, it brought a sudden surge of happiness through his body, but also another emotion that he was not really familiar with. His stomach felt like it was flipping over, and his body temperature seemed to have increased since he felt extremely hot all of a sudden.
The Warblers were watching with interest for they have never seen their captain so vulnerable with his eyes glazed over that they looked like transparent glass, the redness of his cheeks, and most importantly the tugging of his shirt collar as if trying to adjust it so he would be able to speak again. Wes and David knew that their captain would not be able to produce a single word from his choked throat so they directed their attention to the rest of the group and told them to go to their dorm rooms and let Kurt rest for awhile.
Kurt who was listening to everything going on could not help but let out a chuckle that seemed quiet and broken to him, but to the warblers it was like music to their ears and many of them were stunned by what they were witnessing but maybe they had finally found a way to fix their new friend.
When everyone was rushed out of Nick and Kurt's dorm, Kurt could not help himself he started to envision what his life would be like if he did become a warbler. He could see himself in the blazer laughing with the other members, singing to his hearts content with a smile upon his face, maybe even find love while being in this academy. Something Kurt had wanted all of his life, to belong to a place that accepted him for who he was.
While thinking about the warblers and whether or not he was going to join them, his phone rang an ear splitting ringtone of "hey brother".
Kurt immediately knowing who that ring tone belonged to eagerly answered the phone, as he was just about to speak his brothers frantic voice rang through blaring Kurt's ears off to the point there was ringing in his ears and his head was pounding.
Not being able to take the constant ringing anymore Kurt rapidly hung up the phone and laid his head on his pillow. What seemed like minutes was actually hours that passed by and when Kurt's eyes opened once more and he looked at his clock the first words that came out of his mouth was " oh Madonna".
The clock that was on his nightstand read 1:35pm, gazing at that time with glosssy tired eyes, Kurt jumped out of bed and threw on his academy uniform but without the blazer. Looking in the mirror that was connected to his wardrobe he could not help but think that the blazer would complete the outfit but another thought ran threw his head.
"My fashion was always top quality back in McKinley, this blazer would complete this outfit, add a touch of these ying yang bracelets to hide the scars it would be the complete look, but then again only the Warblers wore the blazers so would he be in toruble for wearing it?, would they punish him for it, no I have to stop thinking like that".
Once his thoughts were situated Kurt decided to carry the blazer in his arms for if he got cold later on during the day. Leaving with his book bag around his shoulders Kurt rushed off to third period which was art.
When he arrived in the room all of the students gazes were turned towards him and even the teacher who was sitting at desk rose from it to speak to Kurt.
"Pray tell Mr. Hummel why you are so late to my class", spoke the teacher with a stern voice that left no room for excuses or arguments.
Kurt who was tired from running to class merely shook his head, sat at his desk, and got straight to work on their assignment which was to draw a memory.
The teacher knew that she would not get a single word from him so she walked around the room admiring what her students were drawing but when she gazed at Kurt once more she was shocked.
He had only just entered the class and yet he was the only one who was basically done his picture already, the teacher did not believe what she was seeing and rapidly advanced towards him to gaze at what she thought was the most emotional and sensual piece she had ever laid her eyes on.
Kurt who was in his own little world did not notice the teacher beside him and just focused on his painting capturing the memory with every little detail he could.
While he painted some tears leaked out of his eyes and flowed down his face at an unusually slow pace, the painting was one of his only happy memories that he could actually remember.
His mother was sitting at the piano, the sun catching the tips of her hair and making her eyes sparkle like little sapphires, and right beside her was a little boy with a smile on his face gazing at his mother with love and joy in his eyes for they seemed to twinkle if you stared at them for too long. The room itself was a vision of happiness, the egg white tiled flooring with the ocean blue walls, little flower pots placed on the piano and a window that held what appeared to be an oak tree with two birds on each branch, a bluebird and a blackbird.
Kurt was starting to add the last minute details and one of them stuck out to the teacher for on the left side of the piano so small that it could be gazed over was a heart and in them were the initials K.H, and C.H.
The teacher could only guess that the C.H were the initials of his mother and from the broken state of the boy who now placed the paintbrush down it did not take long to figure out that she was gone from his life.
Kurt who was now finished with only ten minutes to spare gazed at the painting with a longing held in his eyes and before he knew it he had wrote what song was being played and how old he was.
Snapping out of his memories when the bell rang the young boy quickly grabbed his painting and with it being dry placed it under his arms and proceeded to the music room of the Warblers.
He knew that the Warblers had classes so he knew he would be safe and alone in the room which was what he wanted, traveling down the busy hallways Kurt soon noticed that barely anyone was paying attention to him for there were barely any students left and that was when the young boy tugged on his sleeves of his shirt , stopped walking, and just gazed at the door of the choir room.
