Josie's POV:
Caleb stopped his car in front of my house and couldn't help but feel a little sad that the our night was over.
He noticed, gently lifting my chin with his index finger. "Don't frown, Lil' Pineapple. It gives you a double chin," he smirked playfully.
"Shut up, asshole!" I laughed, hitting him with the stuffed penguin.
"Hey, you can't abuse me me with our son," he said, a mischievous smile on his lips.
"Our son?" I giggled. Then I held the penguin up next to his face and said, "Now that you mention it, you two are practically twins."
"Yeah, yeah," he chuckled. For a moment he just stared at me, his eyes glancing down at my lips a few time. It was obvious he wanted to kiss one last time for the night and I was willing to let him, but then my front swung open. It was Jose, stepping out to sneak a cigarette. He didn't notice Caleb's car as he got into his truck.
Leaning away from Caleb to create some distance between us, I frowned again.
"What's wrong?" He asked, he reached out to touch my cheek.
"My brother," I said, jerking my head towards his car, a cloud of smoke flowed through his opened window. "If he knew you were my boyfriend he'd lose his shit."
"Boyfriend?" His brow quirked up. My cheeks burned with embarrassment for letting that word slip.
"I-I just meant -" My stuttering stop when I felt his hand inclose mine. His touch had a way of calming me.
"You're adorable," he teased, kissing the back of my hand and causing me to blush even more.
"I should go," I said, reluctantly. "Before he catches us."
Now Caleb frowned, letting go of my hand. "I'll text you later," he told me.
I nodded, picking up my stuffed penguin and getting out of his car. He drove away and that's when Jose finally got out his truck, dropping his cigarette on the pavement and stomping it out with his foot.
"Was that the white boy?" He asked and I ignored him as I tried to get the front.
Mom was home now and he never did anything in front of her, so I wasn't worried about him hurting me. Still, I didn't want to be bothered by him.
"Why are you dressed like a fucking slut?" Again, I ignored him, trying to get the door. He stopped me, roughly gripping onto my upper arm. "What the fuck were you doing with him? Are you having sex?"
"Please, let me go," I begged, tears spilling from my eyes.
His grip tightened. "Answer me! What were you doing with him?"
The door slammed open and Jose released me. Mom was standing on the porch, a scowl on her face that was mostly directed at my brother.
"José dejó ir a tu hermana! Mija está fría, ve a buscar una chaqueta," my mother said, obviously about to beat my brother with a flip flop. (José let your sister go! Mija is cold, go find a jacket)
I ran into the house and up to my room, locking the door behind. My day was going great, but like always, Jose had to go and ruin it.
As I climbed into bed, still clinging to the stuffed penguin, I received a text.
Devil Caleb 😂😈:
Goodnight, my beautiful girlfriendAnd just like that, my smile was back.
