Josephine's POV
"I know you had something to do with this." I recognized the shrill voice immediately.
Taking my time to lock up my locker, I hoped that she'd get the point that I didn't want to deal with her today. Unfortunately, when I turned around Alexa was still there, hands on her hips as she glared at me.
"What did you say to Caleb to get him to break up with me?" She demanded, making me roll my eyes.
"I didn't say anything," I told her, truthfully. Why would I try to break them up? Alexa might not be the nicest person, but who Caleb dated was none of my business. Regardless of how much I hated the girls. "I guess he just finally came to his senses."
She took an agry step towards, ready to go off on me. Out of no where Caleb appeared, wedging himself between the two of us.
"Don't you have somewhere else to be?" He looked bored as she started spewing crocodile tears.
"B-but I love you, Caleb," she told him, he remained unscathed by her words. I kind of felt bad for her.
As if she flicked a switch on her emotions she stopped crying, her frown replaced with a scowl. "I know what this is really about. I heard all about your little bet with Ian."
Bet? What bet?
Caleb visibly tensed up as Alexa smirked. Directing her attention to me she said, "Don't fall for his tricks like I did or you'll end up on their list too."
With that she walked away, her heels clicking against the floor as she did.
Just as I was about to question Caleb about this bet the bell rang and he disappeared among the flock of students.
I hurried to my next class. If anyone knew about a secret bet it would be my best friend, Britney. She was the school's gossip queen.
She was already in her usual seat when I arrived, examining the ends of her curly, red hair. She smiled at me as I sat down in the seat next to her.
"Hey, Brit," I greeted, taking out the supplies I'll need for this class. Honestly, I was stalling. Did I really want to know what Alexa was talking about or would I be better off staying in the dark?
"What's up?" She asked, her grey eyes looking at me suspiciously. Apparently, along with being the gossip queen, she was also a mind reader.
"Have you heard about a bet between the guys on the soccer team?" I whispered, not wanting anyone to over hear me.
Britney was silent as she thought about this, her finger twirled around one of her red ringlets. "No." She said finally and I relaxed a little. "Why? Have you heard something?"
"No," I said, just as the final bell rang and class began.
Caleb's POV
My eyes were trained on the women at the front of the room as she went on about something I wouldn't need in the real world. My mind was somewhere else though.
Why would Alexa bring up that stupid bet in front of Josie? How the hell did she even find out about it? Ian probably told her, that dude can't keep his mouth shut for nothing.
He was sat on the other side of the room, chatting up some bottle blonde. The bet was just another reason for him to hook up with as many girls as possible. I only agreed to it because he wouldn't leave me alone about it.
Also, I figured it would be a distraction from the fact that I couldn't have Josie. My Pineapple. A smile tugged at my lips as her face came into my mind.
"Mr. Harrison," I snapped out of my thoughts, realizing that everyone's eyes were now on me. "Since you look like you're enjoying this class so much, how about you come up an present your oral report."
Shit. I really hated school.
___
After practice I headed to the locker room to have a talk with Ian. He left the field early due to his asthma acting up -- or at least that's what he claimed.
I happened to see the blonde he was talking earlier walking away from the locker rooms. It didn't take a math genius to put two and two together.
"What number was that?" I asked him, grabbing my duffel from my locker.
"Four," he said, triumphantly. "You're falling behind, Harrison."
"Yeah, yeah," I said, stopping myself from rolling my eyes. "Look, I'm dropping out of the race."
"You're mad that you're losing?" He smirked.
"No, it's just stupid," I told him. It was more to it than that, but I wasn't telling him about my feelings for Josie. It would get spread around school in a matter of minutes.
"Fine, whatever," he shrugged. "Just get me my five hundred dollars."
I half laughed at his request. "We weren't being serious about that."
"I was being dead serious," he said and his unamused face proved it. "Since you're forfeiting you gotta pay up."
More people started filing into the locker room now and I had to lower my voice. "I don't have that kind of money."
Ian seemed uninterested in what I had to say. "Either get the money or win the bet."
There's no way he was being serious. I eyed him, waiting for him to reveal that he was joking. His mob-boss like stance never wavered. Regardless of if he was kidding or not, I wasn't paying him a cent.
"Man, I'm not paying you. This is over," I told, beginning to walk away.
"Alright, we'll continue this conversation later," he called after me as I headed to the showers.

C'mon before it gets coldA few minutes later there was knock on my window, I slid it opened, helping her climb through.
She winced as she came through and I remembered what happened with her brother yesterday. God, I hated him. How could he put his hands on someone as perfect an innocent as her.
"Where's the food you promised?" she asked, looking up at me with her big, brown, beautiful eyes.
The fact that she still smiled, even with all the shit she goes through, that made me fall for her. It was getting harder and harder to keep these feelings from surfacing. With every smile, every laugh, my love for her grew.
I knew she'd never feel the same for me and she shouldn't. She deserved someone better than me. Someone who wouldn't agree to sleep with a bunch of girls in one month.
"Are you just going to stare at me, or are you going to feed me?" She said with a teasing smile.
Ignoring the thumping in my chest, I grabbed the bag of cheese burgers from my dresser, tossing her one of them.
"Should I turn on a movie?" I asked, taking a burger for myself.
"Duh," she laughed, making herself comfortable on my bed. "Can we watch Tangled?"
I jokingly rolled my eyes. "Again?"
"It's my favorite," she retorted, poking out her bottom lip in a pout.
How could I say no to her?
