Josie's POV
"So, what do you think you're gonna say to him?" Says Britney, sitting cross-legged on my bed as I lay my head in her lap. She slowly brushes her fingers through my hair in a comforting manner as my eyes slowly start to close.
"I really don't know," I say getting up and grabbing my small pillow on my bed before laying my head back onto Britney's legs and burying my head into it. "What do I do!" I scream into the pillow, trying to release some anger.
"Hey, calm down," she states, "I think we need a plan."
I cautiously remove the pillow away from my face. Uh-oh. Britney's plans never end well... "Oh yeah? And what would that be? Slam his face into a locker to try and knock some sense into him?" I ask sarcastically, putting the pillow back over my face.
She stops to think for a second, "You know that might not actually be a bad idea... good work kid."
I remove the pillow from my face again to look at her. Is she actually being serious right now? She does know I was only joking, right? I slap her in the face with my pillow causing her to jump back a little in shock.
"Hey what was that for?!" She shrieks.
"Whatever you're thinking right now is not going to happen. We are not slamming Caleb's face into a locker and giving him a concussion. Did you really think I was being serious?"
"I'm messing with you! That's a terrible idea, honestly, I'm disappointed in you. But I know who's face we should slam into a locker."
"Who's...?" I ask cautiously.
"Devon's, he's way too good looking to be real... but then I don't think slamming his head in a locker would make him any less attractive." She rambles, trailing off as she stares off into space, dreamily.
I smack her again with the pillow, snapping her out of her daze. Really? "Ok, enough of that," I say clicking my fingers in front of her face to try and get her attention. "The boy is annoying as hell, so I don't approve. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. What do I do?"
Before she can answer, we hear shouting from outside so Britney stands up from my bed, walking towards the window to see what is going on outside. "Umm... Josie... we might need a plan a lot quicker than what we thought."
"What are you talking about?" I ask, walking up to the window to see what is going on. I gasp, my eyes widening at the sight in front of me. Shit.
Caleb's POV
"What the fuck are you doing here?" Shouts Jose at the top his lungs in his drunken state.
"Nothing, I just need to speak to Josie," I say, trying to push past him.
"Well you ain't gonna, she doesn't want to fucking talk to you. Now get the hell outta here before I make you."
"What gives you the right to tell me what to do, huh?" I hiss. "Now move before I make you."
Jose looks taken aback for a split second before his ego recovers and he is right back to snarling in my face. "What makes you think she wants to fucking talk to you anyway? She's up there, right now, crying about what you did to her. So, why don't you get off my driveway and leave us the fuck alone? Now, I'm gonna count to five, and by then I want you off my property. One... two..."
I take a step back for a minute, Jose's voice fading out of my mind as I think about what I've done. Was this even a good idea? Josie is probably still upset about what I did to her. What made me feel like I had the right to come here and talk to her when she doesn't want to?
Before I get the chance to take another step back and leave I feel a large smash to my head, knocking me down to the floor. I hear a scream from Josie's room so I look up to see her staring down at me, panic written all over her face before she disappears from the window. She reappears in the driveway in a matter of seconds. I clutch the side of my face as I try to get up, only to be punched back down by Jose's ape-like arms.
"Jose, that's enough! Stop, you've done enough!" I hear her shout before she runs to my side, tears making their way to her eyes.
"Josie, move before you get hurt. I will deal with this," I say, getting up. I put my hands on her shoulders and look into her dark brown eyes.
"Awe, look at the two lovebirds," says Jose sarcastically, "aren't they just so cute?"
My body stiffens at his words as I send a glare in his direction. I look back down at Josie and give her a sad smile, wiping away a tear which just ran down her perfect cheek, before letting go of her and sending a hard punch straight to Jose's face, knocking him to the floor in one smooth move. I send another punch to his stomach and another to his face before I feel a large hand grab my shirt and push me against the side of the house. Shit.
Josie's POV
"Dad stop!" I shriek as I see dad punch Caleb in the face. Reluctantly he stops punching him and turns to face me, still pinning Caleb against the wall.
"Will you mind explaining why your brother is being beaten up by your so-called-friend and why you're not doing anything to stop it?" He barks angrily.
"Papa, just let go of him and I will explain everything," I say, my gaze trailing down to glare at Jose who is now sitting up on the floor, a smug look on his face.
Dad releases Caleb and pushes him back towards me. "Go on then, explain, because this," he says pointing at all of us in the driveway, "quite frankly was not how I was expecting to come home from a business trip."
I sigh. This is going to be a long day.
