Sometimes I can't tell if you guys are best friends or gay.
Mafu's not really sure why, but ever since that day with Amatsuki, he can't stop thinking about the man's words. Did Soraru and him really act that close? Why did the idea of them as a couple embarrass Mafu so much?
He supposes that if he had to pick one of his friends to date, it'd be Soraru. He'd probably be a good boyfriend, after all. Soraru always checked up on him to make sure he was taking care of himself, and he always was there to talk to even when it was inconvenient for him. Soraru even cooked for Mafu sometimes too. And didn't mind it when Mafu initiated things like hugs. And let him sleep over when it was too late to go home. (In fact, Soraru was even thinking of moving in to Mafu's apartment complex, which made him unbelievably happy.)
Mafu slaps his cheeks, a futile attempt to stop the flush in them. Now that he was thinking about it, he understood why Amatsuki said what he did, even if it was a joke.
He blinks at his computer screen, realizing he's made almost no progress on his work, and sighs, deciding to give up for now.
Why was he even thinking of dating Soraru in the first place?
His computer suddenly blares a notification, shaking him out of his thoughts. He feels his heart jump when he realizes that Soraru was calling him on Skype.
He's video calling me? I don't even think I brushed my hair today! Mafu thinks to himself frantically, hurriedly combing through his hair with his fingers. He picks up his phone to check his appearance in the reflection, before quickly answering the call.
Soraru's face pops up in front of him, lips spread into a small smile. "For a second I didn't think you were going to answer," he says with a laugh.
"S-Soraru-san..." Mafu greets. He feels way more self conscious than usual, mind still buzzing with his previous thoughts. "What's up?"
To his surprise, a sheepish expression appears on Soraru's face. "Ah...I was just bored. Sorry, were you busy?"
So Soraru called him because he just wanted to talk to him? He feels a warm feeling surge through his heart, cheeks flushing pink. "Ah, no... I wasn't," Mafu replies, unable to stop himself from smiling.
Soraru begins talking about a thing he's been working on, but Mafu finds himself distracted from the man's words. It's not often they videochat- whenever they call on skype it's usually just a normal voice call. Right now, Soraru's eyes are focused away from the camera, probably looking at something else on his computer screen. He finds himself studying the man's face, lines of the man's jaw, the way his lips move when he speaks. Soraru's quite good looking. Mafu knew that already of course, but he feels as if his whole perspective of Soraru has been flipped around these last few days.
"So, what do you think?" Soraru asks, looking at him expectantly.
Mafu blinks. "Hmm?"
A scowl spreads across the man's face. "Geez, you weren't even listening to me?" At Mafu's sheepish expression though, Soraru's look softens. Mafu finds himself drawn into the man's eyes. "Did I call at a bad time?"
"Eh? No, you're perfect!" Mafu exclaims, and at Soraru's surprised look, he immediately backtracks, face burning. "I m-mean, you called at a perfect time, not that you're not perfect or anything- I mean-!" He cuts himself off in an attempt to stop making a bigger fool of himself.
Soraru stares at him for a few moments, before releasing a chuckle. "What's with you today?"
"I honestly don't know..." Mafu mumbles, averting his eyes.
