Your back pops in protest as you sit up suddenly; waking up from the too vivid dream. You claw at the silk sheets with desperation. Why is it that your nightmares come true and your dreams do not? A knock lightly rattles your room, and two heads pop around the door.
"Sister, can we come in?" Thor whisper booms.
You flop back onto the bed and grumble a yes. Your brothers tumble into the room and perch on your bed. They pass each other a look, and they have a silent argument; luckily, you can read your brothers like a book.
"I do not want your sympathy, brothers. It will not change what happens today." You slide off the bed and stomp to your dressing table.
"Shall we send in the handmaids?" Loki questions, getting straight to the point.
Tears fall out of your eyes, but you nod; knowing that you cannot avoid today. Loki strides to the door and orders them in. Desperately, you search the crowd of strangers to look for Helena and Marion, but they do not seem to be here. Loki stands next to you and whispers in your ear.
"Your usual maids are elsewhere. Odin's orders." He delivers the news in a solemn tone. "Thor and I have to go and get ready ourselves."
Thor and Loki kiss your cheek before leaving the room. As soon as the door clicks shut, the handmaids start prepping you for the big day.First, you are bathed in rose water mixed with honey. Then you are patted dry, and vanilla is rubbed into your hair. Each handmaid knows their job as they pull at your (H/C) hair and pinch at your skin. They keep assuring you that this is the tradition for every Asgardian bride. A corset is tied around your abdomen, causing you to breathe in suddenly. Five maids step forward and help you into your wedding dress. The ball gown style dress is a champagne colour donned with white lace. You admit that it is stunning. You step into a pair of white lace heels, while someone places a diamond necklace around your neck. A matching bracelet and earrings are also placed on your body, and a blonde maid neatly does your makeup. Once the small details are finished, a veil is clipped into your hair, and your tiara is placed delicately on your head. The maids step back to admire their work while you feel like you are about to fall over.
"My lady, you are ready. Shall I inform the Allfather?" One of them asks.
You desperately hold back to tears, not wanting to ruin their makeup, and you flick your hand in response. Loki walks into the room and gasps as you turn to face him.
"Sister, you look like a goddess." He scowls at the maids. "Leave us!"
They curtsy and rush out of the room.
"The whole of Asgard and the wealthy from Vanaheim have gathered to watch the ceremony." Loki states, not making eye contact.
You shuffle about in the dress, desperately trying to make yourself comfortable.
"Act like a lady!" He scolds.
"I do not want to be ladylike, I want to lure men to their death."
Loki grins and hugs you tight.
"Whatever happens today, remember that Thor and I will always help you."
With a soft smile, you take his hand and kiss it lightly.
"I know." You whisper.
Loki's magnificent green eyes go wide as you freeze him where he is. You hitch up your dress and run out of the room. Unfortunately, Thor is walking down the corridor with two guards.
"(Y/N)?" He booms.
"Sorry, brother." You yell, thrusting your hands in front of you and freezing the guards and Thor.Luckily you make it to the Bifrost without encountering anyone else. Fandral's information about Heimdall is correct, and you watch as the guards turn into ice blocks. Using the sword, you open the Bifrost and step to the edge. Midgard here you come.
