"Yyyyyy/Nnnnnnn."
"Get uuuuuuuup."
I covered my head with my blankets. "Shut UP Mom."
"NOPE."
And there goes my blankets.
"Ahh! Edd!" I sat up quickly. Edd was standing there, holding my blanket, looking at me with the 'I'll wait.' face. I glared at him. "Why am I awake?" I asked him with a slight attitude.
He looked at the watch on his wrist. It is currently 10:36 A.M. That's 24 minutes until 11." he told me. I looked at him with narrowed eyes. "So?" I asked. He rolled his eyes. "It's Monday, Y/N." I groaned. "And??" He facepalmed.
"Y/N. Work."
I blanked out for a minute. Then, my eyes widened, and I sprung out of bed. "OH SHOOT!" I exclaimed. Edd rolled his eyes again and left my room. "I'm going to change." was all he said before leaving.
Meanwhile, I was frantically throwing open my drawer, pulling my outfit out. Heh, guess it really is an OUTfit.
Mentally high fiving myself, I started getting changed. I put on my white button up and then carefully put on my vest, and then put on my slacks. I got a pair of black boots, and put those on. Then, I went to my wall mirror, and brushed my hair, then putting it up into a bun/ponytail. And finally, I put on my name tag, pinning it to my vest pocket.
After dressing, I quickly went and kissed my F/A on it's fuzzy forehead, and then left the room. I headed downstairs, where I almost walked into Edd, who was walking out of the kitchen, saying something to...someone. I didn't know who, I couldn't see the kitchen from here. He definitely looked different. He wore a white shirt, slacks, and vest, like me, and he also had shiny, black shoes and his pin on. Plus, his hair was combed, so instead of being all ruffled like usual, it was soft and straightened. I actually had to fight the urge to pet it.
I faught it, of course.
He smiled down at me. "Ah, Y/N. Toast is on the counter. We have about fifteen minutes until we need to go. Go ahead and eat." he informed me before heading upstairs to do...something.
I, of course, went into the kitchen. All three of the other boys were there. I went over to the counter to get my toast, glancing at the boys. "Mornin', guys!" I greeted cheerfully. Matt waved and Tom nodded, giving out a sort of quiet "Morning".
"Mornin', Milady." Tord greeted after the other two. "You look absolutely lovely in that." I blushed and smiled at him. "Thank you, Tord." I said, a little quietly. He smiled a bit wider. "Of course."
I stood there for a few minutes, finishing my toast. Then, Edd came back down. "Alright, Y/N, we aughtta get going now." he told me, clipping a keyring through the belt strap on his pants. I nodded. "Okiedokie." Then, we both headed for the door. I waved at the boys before heading out. "Bye, guys!" I said as I left. I got a "See ya, Y/N!" from Matt and a "Good luck!" from Tord, and just a simple "Yep, bye." from Tom.
We went outside to Edd's car and got in, and we talked as he drove there.
"So, ya nervous?"
"Eh, a little. I hope I don't mess up too bad..."
"Ahh, don't worry. You'll be fine! It's a pretty easy job, to be honest."
"...Okay."
~Timeskip brought to you by the Void~
It only took about five minutes to get there. We walked in, and nobody was there yet. Other than Redger, of course. The black-haired man looked up as we walked in.
"Heya, R'!" Edd greeted enthusiastically. I just gave a little wave and said "Hiya." Redger nodded a greeting at us. "Good morning, you two. You're early. Work starts soon, so don't get caught up in your own thing. Edd, could you go get the kitchen ready for today?" he said all at once. Edd did a little salute thing and walked through the counter-gate. "Yes sir!"
Redger then looked at me. "And you. Since you're the waitress, there isn't really anything for you to do when customers aren't here, so you can go help Edd, I guess." he told me, sounding bored. I nodded. "Okay."
He opened the gate for me, and I headed towards the kitchen. I hadn't been in the kitchen yet, so I was curious. I found it easily, as this is a fairly small building. Edd was standing in there, cleaning a few mug in a sink.
Aside from that sink and Edd, in here was a counter, a refrigerator, a stove, a cupboard, and a wall shelf. The counter had a coffee machine and a few spices on it, along with a utensil rack. The fridge was blank and white. The shelf was completely filled with spices and seasonings. It was fairly simple in here.
"Soo..." I started, slightly surprising Edd. He glanced at me while drying a mug. "Hm?" he hummed. I looked straight at him. "So, how exactly does this work?" I asked. He looked back down at the sink, setting down the mug he had and grabbing another one. "Well, Redger takes orders and tells me, then I make whatever they want, and then I give it to you, Redger will tell you who ordered what, and you bring it to them." he explained. I nodded slowly, processing. "Uh...huh...okay."
Edd turned to me fully. "Aye, don't be nervous. It really isn't that hard." he comforted me, a soft smile on his face. I gave him a half smile in return. "Thanks."
He turned back around. "No problem. Now, I gotta hurry up and finish washing these..."
I spent my next few minutes thinking and mindlessly watching Edd finish the dishes. I was only brought back to reality by Redger popping his head in. "First order. Just a plain black coffee." he said simply before ducking out again. Edd nodded and walked over to the cupboard, opening one door. I watched him curiously as he started to make the coffee. It didn't take way too long.
Soon enough, he poured it into one of the mugs and lifted it gently. Then, he turned to me. "Alright, nothing hard. Just take this and get out there." he instructed. I nodded and carefully took the mug, and walked out of the kitchen.
I went back out to the counter, where Redger opened the gate and pointed to an older man in a suit who eas staring out the window. I walked over to him and set his coffee down on a small plate that was already on his table. "Here you go, sir. Enjoy." I said properly. He turned and looked at me with a slight smile. "Ah, yes. Thank you, young lady."
I nodded and walked away then, leaving him to his drink. I smiled to myself. Edd was right, this was easy!
I went back to the kitchen, where Edd smiled at me. "Easy, right?" he asked. I nodded. "Mmhm! If that's all it is, then I'm gonna nail this thing!" I said confidently. He chuckled. "That's the spirit!"
Minutes later, Redger came in with another order. That's how it went throughout the whole day. Orders, walking, and subtle talking. It was rather pleasant to be honest.
At the end of the day, as we were closing up shop, Redger approached me. He handed me my days pay, already in full cash. "Here. You did good for your first day." he said. I smiled big. "Yay!" I said happily. He rolled his eyes. "Don't be late on Wednesday. You'll be walking." And with that, he walked away.
I shoved my cash in my vest pocket, and after a minute or two, Edd and I walked out to the car and got in. We simultaneously sighed as we sat down, which made us both chuckle. "Well, I'd say I had a successful first day!" I said with a bright smile. He nodded. "Agreed." Then, he turned on the car, and we started pulling out. "Now let's get home. This uniform is killing me." And with that, we headed home again.
To be honest, I also couldn't wait to get out of this uniform.
