I walked silently into the bedroom that Helena and I shareed and saw Helena looking perfectly normal on the bed. She smiled at me as I walked in and I couldn't help but smile back. She had the most beautiful smile I had ever seen.

"Hey." I said, slowly.

"Hey, before you say anything. I didn't know this was going to happen and I'm sorry." She said.

"No no no no don't be sorry. This was out of your control." I replied. I sat up on my side of the bed and Helena laid her head on my shoulder. We sat like this for a while and soon I could hear Helena's deep breathing, she was asleep. As gently as I could, I laid her head back down on the pillow and covered her with the blanket. I sneaked one last peek at her before exiting and shutting the door behind me.

"Is she alright? You've been in there an awful long time." Kimmy said as I sit in the living room. Everyone seemed to have dispersed to do their own things. I was sitting in there for a while.

"Shes fine. Shes just sleeping now." I sat on the love seat and picked up the book I was reading before bombs dropped and just read.

After being thrown on my bed I had not moved in three days. I had not been brought food, water, clothing or anything. I hadn't moved at all except blinking and even that I had done little of. I had no idea what kind of effect this had on my child and I wasn't sure I wanted to know.

After the eleventh hour of the third day the door opened and shut quickly. I assumed there was food at the door so I quickly scurried to meet it. I fell over trying to run there as my legs hadn't been used in some time. Once I got there I practically inhaled the dry chicken and stale bread that was on the silver tray. I drank the cup of water but my throat begged for more.

In the process of gorging on all this food, I hadn't noticed a small backpack sitting next to the silver tray. I quickly opened the bag and pulled out a plastic drink bottle. I quickly opened the lid and started to drink the water. It was only half way through the bottle that I realised I should probably save the water encase I don't get any more for a while.

Also, in the bag I found a spare change of clothes. I had gotten mildly used to being naked over the past three days. I stumbled into the bathroom and put on the sweatpants and the t - shirt. Although, when I was sliding on the t - shirt I noticed something. Where there was supposed to be a baby bump there was nothing at all. Just a malnourished stomach.

In that moment I broke down into tears and hoped to stay on the bathroom floor in a fetal position until I had died of starvation.
