"She kissed me.

She kissed the devil.

Only a beautiful soul like hers

would kiss the damned."

DELILAH WAS UNSURE OF HOW LONG SHE HAD BEEN STANDING THERE LEANING UP AGAINST THE
side of the Garrison with her eyes closed as she tried to shake off the remnants of her mortification when she heard the pub doors open only to swing closed again with a muted thud. She kept her eyes closed as she continued to breathe in and out slowly, figuring it was just Orlaith come to make more unapologetic quips on her behalf when she felt some settle next to her on the wall.

The silence that followed, despite the busyness of the street, only fueled the irritation the Sainte girl had been working to tamper down. Why couldn't her cousin just be a normal person and apologize so they could put the whole terrible day behind them, or at the very least try to.

Sapphire eyes flashing open she turned to give her cousin a piece of her mind, she might be shy and quiet but she was absolutely done with being the butt of Orla's jokes, when she came up short at the sight of Tommy stood beside her, hands in his pockets looking as if he didn't have a care in the world.

"You seemed a bit put out," he said casually, sky blue eyes almost hidden under the brim of his cap he must have donned before coming outside.

Her indignation grew. Now that they were out of sight of his family and hers he could acknowledge her? Her heart clenched in an uncomfortable way.

"Thank you for your concern, Mr. Shelby, but as you can see I'm perfectly fine," her tone was clipped as she turned her nose up at his observation. Tommy didn't even try to hide the smirk, that damned smirk, that her attitude brought to his face.

"So it's 'Mr. Shelby' again, is it?"

The girl just barely resisted the urge to roll her eyes at his response.

"It would seem so," she turned and began walking in the direction she knew her grandmothers house to be.

He easily fell into step beside her much to her annoyance.
