If I Am Burnt, You Must Be Undercooked (EXO)

"So Kai, what do you think of people commenting on your skin colour?" The interviewer asked politely, causing some snickers to be heard.

"Well I honestly feel uncomfortable when they talk about it." He replied in the same kind manner.

Sehun then butted in. "Well if you didn't eat so much chocolate, you wouldn't have to worry about it." The rest of the members burst out laughing except Kyungsoo, who just shot them a dirty look which made the interviewer uncomfortable.

"Yah! Drink more milk, it'll help a lot!" Baekhyun shouted, causing more laughter.

After that, the interviewer began to talk about the next upcoming album as Kai sat in his seat with a small pout. Lay, who was silent the whole time wrapped an arm around him which lightened his mood a little. Kai felt like crying, how dare the others make fun of his colour in public? How can they be such assholes?

"Kai, Kai, KIM JONGIN!" He slipped out of his trance, the other members looking at him with worried glances.

"Are you okay?" Lay asked, his voice laced with worry. Jongin felt something wet on his face, which then he realized that he was crying. He huffed in anger and wiped them away.

"I'm fine Hyung." Kai gave off a tense aura, which then everyone backed off.

The interview was then cut. The second youngest quickly thanked the interviewers and stormed off the change out of his outfit. The members were confused about his behaviour, he never acted like this during an interview.

"We were only joking, he should chill." Baekhyun muttered, causing Chen and Chanyeol to hum in agreement.

"You guys were making fun of his skin! Do you even know that he gets uncomfortable when you talk about it in interviews?!" D.O almost shouted, with Lay sending them glares of disapproval.

When everyone else piled into the car, the atmosphere suddenly became positive. Kai plugged in his earbuds, not wanting to deal with the other members at that moment. As they arrived home, they all quickly got out. The young dancer walked straight to his shared room with Kyungsoo, plopping his head on the pillow and began to bawl his eyes out.

He was deeply hurt for what the others had said. He knew this was all for jokes, but now it's going too far. He can't do anything without being teased for his skin, and he absolutely hated it. Even when Suho made a joke about 'bleaching his skin', there was howls of laughter.

As he lifted his head from the pillow with his eyes red and face swollen, he sighed as he cleaned his face. The members obviously didn't deserve his tears, none of them did. But to tell the truth, the only members he was not mad at were Kyungsoo and Lay. As he practiced his smiles in the bathroom mirror, he forced in happy thoughts as he left.

"Hey Jongin." Tao smiles acting like nothing happened, which leaves a pang of pain in Kai's chest.

"Hi Hyung!" He knew that his happiness was fake, but he couldn't care less.

"Alright time to eat!" D.O calls, giving a sweet smile to Jongin as he sets food on the table with the help of Minseok and Junmyeon.

The rest of the members sat down to enjoy Kyungsoo's delicious cooking. As they quietly took small bites, the leader decided to do a group discussion.
