The day passed and it’s already the day for Joseph’s circumcision. Ashley arrived at their home at exactly eight o’clock in the morning, the time when Mike was already at work. Joseph was too nervous and tried to back out but Ashley dragged him downstairs. They rode the bus and Ashley noticed that Joseph was shaking.
“Don’t be nervous. Everything is going to be okay.”, she smiled
“B-but I can imagine how painful it is.”, he closed his eyes
Ashley looked up and think. “I’ll help you to remove that imagination.”
“How?”
Ashley covered Joseph’s eyes with her left hand and rubbed Joseph’s chest with her right hand. “Your guardian angel is here to take away the pain. When I count one to ten your pain will be gone away.”
Joseph’s heart beats fast. He was panting and sweating.
“One…two…three…four…five…six…seven…eight…nine…ten…”, Ashley removed her hand on Joseph’s chest and snapped. She removed her hand that covering Joseph’s eyes. “Do you feel better now?”
Joseph was calmed. “It’s effective!”, he said with excitement
Ashley smiled. “Really?”
“Yes! Yes! It’s amazing! Where did you learn that?!”, Joseph said full of excitement
“My mother taught me that. Because she said she’s my guardian angel.”, she smiled
Joseph felt sad. “If my mother was here, is she’s going to be my guardian angel too?”, Joseph sighed
“Don’t be sad… She’s guarding you up there and because I took your pain away, I’m your guardian angel here.”, she clings to Joseph’s right arm and closed her eyes
Joseph pushed Ashley and removed her hand. “Stop that!”
Ashley rolled her eyes. “You’re so mean!”
After a few minutes, they reached the hospital. Joseph was mesmerized and not moving in front of the hospital.
“Menstruation is suppose to be my thing and not this!”, Joseph gulped
Ashley laughed. “Want to exchange organs?”
“Sure!”, he smiled
Ashley hit his head. “Shut up and go inside!”, she shouted
They go inside the hospital and wait outside the doctor’s door. Joseph take a deep breathe as Ashley instructed. The nurse called Joseph’s name. He started to shake again.
“Can you come with me inside?”, he was embarrassed
“What?! Can’t you see? I-I’m a girl!”, she shouted
“But I want to hold my angel’s hand while undergoing the pain.”
“I’m not allowed there. Just do what I did to you awhile ago it’s also effective that way.”
“B-but…”
Ashley pushed him inside and wave at him. She sits on the waiting area. Joseph saw the things of the doctor beside him. He closed his eyes and covered it; he rubbed his chest and count from one to ten through his mind. After doing that the doctor began the circumcision. Joseph shouted and Ashley heard that, she starts to worry.
Ashley stands up from her seat and starts to walk three steps and sit again. She rubbed her hands and wished Joseph could get over the pain. After a few minutes, Joseph was already done.
