I sat in my room, gazing out the large open window. Music from the festival floated to my ears, making me smile slightly. I looked up at the sky. It was dark out and the stars were shining brightly. The moon was also glowing, giving everything its light touched a silver look. I closed my eyes, enjoying the feeling of the moon's rays on my face.

I was suddenly snapped out of my thoughts when I heard a knock at my door.

"It's open," I called. I heard the door open and someone step into the room. I turned when I heard the door close again. Standing by the door was Thranduil. "Good evening, Thranduil," I said politely, nodding my head towards him.

"Good evening, (y/n)," he replied, walking towards me. "I thought you could use some company."

"That is kind of you, Thranduil. You do not have to."

"No, but I felt as though I needed to."

I raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I wanted to apologize, (y/n), for what I said the other night. I was out of line and should not have questioned you."

I shook my head.

"No, Thranduil, you were right to ask. I should have said something earlier when you asked about it. It is something I should not have kept from you."

"Who else knew?"

"Legolas."

"How did he find out?"

"He had all these games planned for us and I had to explain I could not participate in them. Instead we settled for simple conversation and later me teaching him how to properly use a bow."

Thranduil smiled.

"And for that I am incredibly grateful. I had been planning on getting him lessons and it appeared you beat me to it. He seems happy learning from you."

"And I am happy to teach him. He is a quick learner." I glanced back into my room. "When he becomes old enough, I hope to pass on my weapons to him. I showed them to him earlier this week and he was very intrigued. Since I no longer have use for them, it would be good to see him using them."

"You have your weapons here with you?" Thranduil asked. I nodded, a small smile on my face. "May I see them?"

"Of course. Would you help me up?"

Thranduil seemed surprised by my question but nodded. I took his hand and he pulled me up. One of his arms went around my shoulder while the other held my hand. He guided me towards the bed, gently setting me down when he reached it. I bent over and grabbed the bundle of weapons. Turning on the bed, I laid them out over the sheets.

I looked up at Thranduil to see his eyes wide with amazement. I smiled slightly and handed him one of the swords. He lifted it out of my hands and examined it. He turned the blade over again and again. I watched as he stepped back to try a few sword attacks with it, making me smile. I couldn't help but admire how he looked at he used the sword. With the moonlight coming through the window, he almost seemed to glow. It was an incredible sight.

After a few minutes, Thranduil turned back to me, spinning the blade before handing it to me.

"It is an incredible weapon," he commented. "And you plan on giving it to Legolas?"

"When he's ready for it, yes. Right now, he's still too young."

The king nodded as I wrapped up the weapons again and put them away. Thranduil sat down on the bed next to me.

"I appreciate everything you are doing for him, (y/n)," he said. "You are giving him so much love and attention that I could never give. I could never be more grateful."

"It is nothing, Thranduil. I have enjoyed my time with him." I sighed. "It will be sad when I have to return to Lothlorien."

"You don't have to, you know." I looked at him. "You could stay here."

"I'm not sure, Thranduil. My brothers are there."

"They are, yes. Perhaps I can say something that might change your mind?"

"I suppose so."

I expected him to say something after that but he took me by surprise when he gently kissed me. I was startled for a moment but quickly reacted by kissing back. Thranduil seemed surprised by my actions but neither of us pulled away until the need for air became too great. I chuckled as I tried to regain my breath.

"I believe that was more of an action than a comment," I said.

Thranduil chuckled as well.

"I suppose so. Might I be correct in assuming that you feel the same way about me that I feel about you?"

I lightly kissed his lips again.

"You can assume that, yes. I would love to stay here with you, Thranduil, even if it means leaving my family in Lothlorien. They are always able to visit if they want."

"I am happy to hear that, (y/n). I am sure Legolas will be happy as well."

"I'm sure."

We sat in silence for several minutes. I rested my head on Thranduil's shoulder, simply enjoying the quiet. The sounds of the festival could be heard from my room, but they were quiet.

"(y/n)?" I looked up at Thranduil, my (e/c) eyes meeting with his icy blue ones. "Would you care to dance?"

"Thranduil," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Do not worry, (y/n). It will be fine."

I sighed but agreed to his request. He stood from his position next to me and took my hand. Once I was standing in front of him, he gave me a smile before suddenly lifting me off my feet. I gasped in surprise, wrapping my arms around his neck. Thranduil held me close to his chest, chuckling lightly.

I relaxed in his arms as he swayed a little to the distant music. A smile spread across my face as he held me. I felt peace and happiness wash over me as we "danced," something I had not felt in a long time. I smiled up at Thranduil and he smiled back at me. He leaned down and kissed me.

"Gin melin (I love you)," he whispered.

"Gin melin, erain nín (I love you, my king)."
