Two Months Later

"Hurry up, Y/N! You're going to be late," my mom yells up the stairs.

"Okay! I'm almost ready."

I double check that my hair isn't frizzy. I spent nearly fifteen minutes slicking it down. This heat really needs to go away. I hope that my halter top and boyfriend jeans are not too much for the first day of school. I hear a car's honk come from the driveway. That's Harry coming to pick me up.

I grab my phone off the dresser and swing my backpack over my shoulder, hopping down the stairs. I give my mom and dad a kiss. "Harry's here. Love you guys, bye." I rush out the door and into Harry's car.

He has a huge grin on his face.

"Hey." I give him a kiss. "Are you nervous?"

"No, why would I be?"

"Well, you don't know really anyone from school."

He pulls out of the driveway. "I've got you, don't I?" He winks at me and I roll my eyes. "But it is a good thing Eric doesn't go to that school anymore."

I laugh. "I thought you were over the whole kissing thing."

"Forgiven, not forgotten, babe," he says.

"That's reasonable. I'm glad no one started throwing punches."

"I'm not a complete animal, Y/N." He briefly glances at me with a smirk on his face. "Well, only when I need to be."

I playfully smack his arm. "Harry!"

He just laughs.

I rest my head against the seat. "So where do you think Edward went?" I ask while staring out the window.

"I'm not sure. Hopefully, he has a better life now."

"Yeah," I mutter. I can't help but think that Edward will still have those evil tendencies within him. Erasing those memories might not have erased the root of the problem. I don't voice my thoughts to Harry. I want to hope for the best like he is.

I haven't really used to my powers since that night we fought, per Harry's request. The sharp pains I was getting in my head weren't from Edward trying to poke around in my mind. It is sort of an internal alarm system that lets me know when I need to tone down my powers. I obviously went past the threshold.

After everything that happened, everyone just kind of went in their own ways. We still check in with Leslie and Archie. They liked California and went to live down in San Diego, where Harry and I plan to go to university after we graduate from high school. Maybe we can find more people like us and prevent them from turning bad.

We pull up into the school parking lot. I fling my backpack over my shoulder and grin at Harry. "You ready to take on high school?"

He smirks and kisses me. "I have taken on far worse things, darling. Let's do this."
