Chapter 12

Empty Roads

Everyone walked for a distance, well really till one fell tired. That one was always Sadie. "Rest." she'd always said. So they alwasy stopped. "Hey, guys. Can't I just shadowtravel to Frank. I'm sure he close by."

   Everyone turned to him, "SHADOWTRAVEL, NICO DI ANGELO!!!!???" He nodded. "Yeah. I shadowtravel. I could've took us to him like 15 minutes ago. But I saw you we're having fun resting. So I- nah- forget it. I didn't want to waste my energy on shadowtraveling."

   Sadie's mouth twitched, "I'm going to kill you!" she ran toward Nico and strangled him, "Why you little little-" Carter grabbed Sadie's hands and pushed her toward Thalia, "Keep her busy, else where."

  Thalia nodded and dragged Sadie along her speaking curses at her. "Well. She's hot-headed." Percy grinned, "Well, Nico. Can you go find, Frank. We need him now. After we find Sincere. We must go to the Duat." Carter sighed, "Such a adventure. But when five teens are out in the middle of no where. Don't they think they're attracting monsters? Or is it that we're by a camp and  the Romans are killing them for us....." 

   Nico grinned, "Soon... Different monsters will come. But it's also that were close to the Atlas. The titian will notice soon some demigods and magicians are near by and somehow have someone take his place in able to seek revenge on 'Percus Jackson'"  Percy flinched, "Gods. I hated holding the weight of the world." Nico sighed and clapped him on the back, "Just be glad it wasn't your burden."

   "Percy! I think I found something useful!" He turned to the voice and ran toward it. "Who lives here exactly?" Nico walked up to the porch and sat on the steps, "Whoever did live here left a vast amount burdens and grudges." Percy followed Nico, "I'm going in." he clicked the pen and it turned into a sword. "Percy, I think not. It's not safe." Nico stood in front of him now, "Something tells me monsters."

   "Great. More for me-" Nico slapped Percy, "No. Listen. Not-just-these-simple-easy-to-kill-and watch-it-go-to-Tarturus-monsters. More stronger. Both land and water monsters. Some we haven't even talked about. I'm pretty sure only Annabeth knew." Percy rubbed his cheek, "If it's so dangerous. Stop making it sound so interesting. Plus we are demigods, we have to do this." 

   "No we don't. Monsters don't attack mortals. First off, mortals don't see monsters. Only as animals. Second off, Monsters don't care for mortals. They want to kill demigods and it might be this way for a while." Percy stared right into Nico's eyes. Green met black. It wasn't a good match. "Well. Then I'm going." Percy pushed past Nico and entered the house. "Nico. I found something interesting." he looked over his shoulder and glanced at Carter who was uncovering a bush and entering the backyard. 

   "This is where the person living here last stood. Which wasn't long ago. Maybe one to three weeks ago. And here," Carter moved about four feet to the left, "Is where the person standing there was before." Nico rubbed his temples, "Ok. Confused but I get it. But the question who lives here? The only thing I know so far is that he is dead. Hades has been getting visits from the dead recently, thats bad. But if I can just find out who lives here then I can see when he died-" 

       A crashing noise came from within the house, "Percy. Carter, find Sadie and Thalia." Nico ran into the house and pulled his sword."Percy! Where are you?" Nico went to the wall and let it guide him to a light switch. "Percy!"

       Nico's fingers touched a light switch. Quickly he flicked it on and almost vomited, "Gods, this is gross." He covered his mouth and nose and quickly ran up the stairs."  It smelt worst than death alone. "Nothing is worse than death." Everywhere littered monsters. One's that never got the chance to regenerate." He went past three doors before finally he found Percy unconscious, "Percy!" Nico dropped to the ground and felt his pulse. "Great still alive."
