Chapter 1 - Moving In
TANA
"No way" I screamed with a thrill of excitement in my voice. "You ought to be kidding me mom, is this our new home?" I shrieked gazing at a magnificent bungalow in front of me. It was pretty old more of a 17th century build but still it stood stonily putting most of New York's towering buildings to shame. The glistening sunlight kissing its aging walls it looked like a gold villa. It stood majestically in the center of a huge apartment with lush green grass spread over it. To add to the beauty of the already extravagant structure it had a huge pool located at the backside. All in all this place was paradise. After dad passed away due to cancer a couple of months back, we had decided to move to Nashville to the great grand house my granddad had left for us when he passed away last month. What a fortune to leave for a person who has never even seen you in real life. I actually never got to meet him in reality but I heard I certain amount of stories about him. According to the stories, I heard about him he was somewhat eccentric. He was a marine in the U.S. army and had taken part in the World War II and often bragged about it to every first person he met. In that case, I was lucky never to meet him as my history is far from what people think of. As my earlier grade professor used to say, I tend to create new history every time I write my history paper. Still whatever with history I love this place. It is exactly what I always dreamt of.
Just as I was getting lost in my own thoughts I was interrupted by the screeching sound of my car coming to a halt as mom pulled into the driveway. As soon as I regained my senses, I saw mom staring at me. I was like "what?" "I can see your already in love with this place, I was really worried if you would like this old villa now one of my big worries is settled, so time to move in. come on out and give me a hand super girl". Mom has been constantly mocking me since I dressed as a super girl for the New Year costume party back in New Jersey. "Stop it mom it's been four months to New Year and you still aren't letting that go." "Cheer up honey, I am really gonna need a super girl to move in all that stuff." "Yeah sure" I said nodding my head nonchantingly. Moving things is easily not one of my favorite things but now I don't really have an option.
The house was as exquisite from the interior as from the exterior. There was a strange musky scent inside the house suggesting its aging roots. The 18th century designs and carvings on the pillars looked anything but fascinating. The fireplace was royal. The dining table was made of dark colored maple and chairs with oak and had engraftments on them. an inner spiral staircase elegantly made its way to the top storey, the staircase too had a wooden finish to it and looked nothing but exquisite.
This place was huge and it meant it was going to take that much effort in shifting. Though most of the doors were locked and bolted, I could not help but think what in the world are just the two of going to do in such a big place.
It was going to be a long long week with all the settlements to be done.
