The next morning I woke up to someone shaking me and a weight on my lower body. I flickered open my deep Amber eyes to see Sage ontop of me, shaking me and urging me to wake up.
She smiled down at me with those beautiful eyes. Her pearly white teeth. Her glowing skin. I sleepily smiled back as I rubbed my eyes.
"What is it." I groaned, scratching my head.
Sage grinned, rolling off of me onto the floor beside the bed. "Your brothers here." She said giggling as she ran outside the room.
I gasped, smiling uncontrollably. I bounced out of my bed like a spring, grabbed my toothbrush, started brushing my teeth and ran down the stairs with the brush still in my mouth. I stopped at the kitchen sink and spat out the toothpaste and ran to the living room to see my brother, Malik sitting there with excitement evident in his eyes.
I rushed over to him as he got up to his feet. I finally got to him and hugged him beyond tight. He's my brother and my best friend. I was always the big sister who cooked with him when mom couldn't and dad was working. I'd help him with homework and give him advice on girls.
"I missed you, Malik." I said happily. I hadn't seen him in a week, when the cops came he had to be with our second cousins for a bit. A week may not be that long apart, But it was longer than we were used to. We're pretty much inseperable.
He looks just like dad. Warm deep skin, short curly hair, deep Amber eyes. Dad and my brother are the only people I've ever met with Amber eyes due to the fact theyre extremely rare. Malik towered over me, despite him being 14, a year younger than I. He stood at 6 foot already.
"I missed you to, Aquila." She said chuckling.
"So I see you met Sage?" I said giggling, glancing over at the girl I had made friends with.
He nodded. "Yup, She showed me to my room and stuff."
I nodded, smiling. My brothers all I need. We could be homeless beggers on the street, but as long as my brother is with me, I'll be fine.
