It's quiet, too quiet. It's also really dark. Suddenly there's a screeching noise, deafening my ears, and I want to scream in pain. It's so loud and high pitched, nothing human can possibly make that noise. There's a bright white light, a blinding white. I'm not dead, what is this?
A figure starts walking towards me from the light. "Gab? Have you found her?" a familiar voice asked. Oh, thank God it's Russ, I got scared for a minute. "Found who?" I asked. "Oh I don't know, maybe your missing friend. I think that'd be a good guess." he said. Being dead sure has made him sassy. "No, I haven't found her." I sighed. "You better find her. If you find her, you'll find who killed me. I promise." he held my face in his hand and smiled. "Why can't you just tell me?" I said. I'm so frustrated with this. He gives me all these hints but he can't just tell me. "Because, that's not a possibility. It takes a lot of energy that I don't possess, and if I were to just flat out tell you, I'll never be able to see you again, it'll use up so much of my energy that I'll fade away. But I can leave you little hints every night, and recharge for the next time I see you. I try to during the day, but you never see me. I follow you around, I scream for your attention, but you never seem to hear me. Or you're just ignoring me." he said, looking a little hurt. I never knew he was around me during the day. I always thought that dead is dead, and when you're gone, that's it. I guess I was wrong. "I never- I guess I never noticed you, I'll keep an eye out." I promised. He smiles and nods at me.
He grabs my hand and pulls me over to somewhere far off in the distance. "Where are we going?" I asked. He shook his head. "Don't worry about it." he keeps pulling me. We get closer and closer until we reach the docks. "What does this have to do with anythi-" "Shut up!" he glared at me, and that's when I see it. He's getting dragged into the river again, but this time, I can see more colors of the man that's doing it. He's got a short, brown buzz cut with some gray hairs, he's got pale skin, and his t-shirt is blue, paired with some dark blue jeans, a dark brown leather belt, and chocolate-colored work boots. My eyes widen and my jaw drops. "This is gonna help the police! This is great!" I whispered. Russ nods. Of course this is gonna help the cops. Russ' whole purpose for coming here is to help me solve his murder. Why wouldn't this help me with the cops? The man turns towards us, and he's completely faceless. That's so creepy. He grabs a gun out of his belt and runs towards us. "Go! Run!" Russ pulls me up and pushes me away. I hear a bang, and Russ is on the ground, dead and bleeding, and I'm staring down the barrel of a pistol. I scream, I scream so loud so that somebody -anybody- can hear me, can help me, but nobody comes, and I hear a loud bang. A ringing sound starts, and light floods my eyes again.
