Joe's POV

"I'VE BEEN FUCKIN' HOES AND POPPIN' PILLIES MAN, I FEEL JUST LIKE A ROCKSTAR," Mona screams as the song blasts through my car speakers. We've been driving to the beach for like ten minutes and I already regret letting Mona take the aux cord.

She's been scream-singing her favorite songs while simultaneously eating a sandwich. I take my eyes off the road to quickly glance at her joking around and dancing in her seat. Her mouth is full and all she can manage to do is wiggle her body around and fist bump. Once she finishes eating the rest of her sandwich, she goes back to singing.

The 30-minute drive felt like hours but I'm not complaining, Mona made it a lot funnier than it would normally be. We try to find free parking spots but eventually give in and buy a parking spot for the day. We both get out of the car and head to the trunk to figure out who's carrying what. I end up carrying all the heavy things while Mona's left with the towels, the umbrella, and our bag full of food. We set up on a more deserted part of the beach and pray to not get spied on like we usually do. While Mona sets up the chairs and the umbrella, I go into the water to see whether it's cold or not. After just slightly dipping my foot in, I immediately pull it back. The water was freezing. I was going to walk back to Mona but I decided against it. I instead forced myself to put my hands underwater and cup a bunch of it in my hands. I run back to Mona with my hands cupped trying not to let the water escape. When I finally get close enough I fling the water onto her and when she feels the coldness hit her she runs away screaming. I chase after her and eventually catch up and pick her up over my shoulder. She tries her hardest to make me put her down but I resist her kicking and yelling and continue to run towards to water. I walk into the shallow end and throw her a bit further away from me and then take off running. I sit down on one of our beach chairs and watch her get out of the water shivering. Drenched, she makes her way over to me and snatches the towel I was holding out.

"That hurt my feelings," She says and sits down next to me.
