Chapter 13 Auditions

Amy almost couldn't enjoy her breakfast the next morning. She was having the audition and her presentation on English class on the same day. She was just hoping for the day to end soon, she felt it was too much for her. When she entered  her English class she took her usual seat, on the back of the classroom and tried to read her lines one last time before the class started.She knew them well but was still nervous to mess up in front of the class. She felt her phone vibrating and she read the text message she received.

J: Ready for today?I have no doubt we'll rock this assignment. 😉

Amy noticed Jonah was already seated and  Mr. Geller was entering the classroom so she answered quickly trying not to be noticed by him since he had an strict no cellphone use rule in class. 

A: Yeah, i believe it too. 

Mr. Geller started calling the couples one by one, until it was Jonah's and Amy's turn. Jonah seemed relaxed and confident, causing Amy to be jealous. She felt like throwing up but she tried to stay calm and breath slowly, this was going to be over soon. Jonah started his dialogue. 

  "I love you. Most ardently. Please do me the honor of accepting my hand. "

Amy felt her heart beating faster when he said those three words, and then remembered it was only acting. He said with real emotion, as if it was really for her.He was taking this seriously, and she had to take it seriously too, not only for her grade, but for his grade too since it was  a teamwork. She decided to say her lines as real as she could.

  "Sir, I appreciate the struggle you have been through, and I am very sorry to have caused you pain. Believe me, it was unconsciously done. "

  "Is this your reply?" 

  "Yes, sir. "

  "Are you... are you laughing at me?"

  "No. "

  "Are you *rejecting* me? "

  "I'm sure that the feelings which, as you've told me have hindered your regard, will help you in overcoming it. "

  "Might I ask why, with so little endeavor at civility, I am thus repulsed? "

  "And I might as well enquire why, with so evident a design of insulting me, you chose to tell me that you liked me against your better judgment. "

Mr. Geller didn't said a word, no one in the classroom did. He told them to take their seats as he wrote something on a notebook. Amy sighed relieved this was over, she knew it only lasted one or two minutes but she felt it was longer. As usual during lunch time she wanted to speak with Dana about what happened at class but her friend got ahead.

"Rumor has it you and Jonah were almost sent to the chemistry lab with your English assignment.Is it true?" She asked as she sat down with her tray. 

"Of course not, it was totally acting.Nothing else. "

"Common, there must have been some sparks between you two. "

"Trust me Dana, nothing happened. I was there. "

"Fine, if you say so. " Dana said in a defeated voice and raising her hands in the air. 

Their conversation was interrupted by Jenna, who looked like an exact copy from Blair Waldorf from " Gossip Girl", wearing a  black and white outfit, black boots, and a hair band on her head.Amy and Dana were both startled when seeing Jenna, it was the first time she approached them during lunch. 

"Hi Amy, are you busy after school?I'm going shopping with Helen and Grace. Would you like to come?" She asked with a huge smile on her face.

"Thanks, but I have plans today. Sorry." Amy said biting her lip.
