Evan

The coffee's ready if you'll have some
Breakfast should be finished soon
The paper calls for sun tomorrow
It looks like rain the whole day through

We all sat in a booth at a small Cafe in London. The place was sort of a hole-in-a-wall, so barely anyone recognized us except for a middle-aged waitress who's teenage sister, Becky, was a fan. We ended up giving her free tickets and wished her a good day. The day was cold and rainy (surprise, surprise) so we all opted for some coffee. I drank mine in .5 seconds while Avril just sipped hers.

Ooh, Ooh, Ooh, Ooh
Morning left us both defeated
Mailman left another bill
Hallway closet's overflowin'
With all those shoes too big to fill

Every guy Avril dated couldn't do something. He just wasn't enough of anything. "He didn't care enough, he didn't listen enough, he didn't talk enough..." etc, etc. If any of those amazing, popular, good-looking guys weren't good enough for Avril there's no way I could even remotely fill their shoes. She always ended up heartbroken or defeated.

So what's that song you used to sing?
What's that dance you used to do?

One day I decided to get Avril out of her funk for good. I got her to sing Darlin' a few times, along with some of the other songs we wrote together. That really lifted her spirits. When we had the time we played hockey. She loved that. We played against some of her management, and yeah we lost a few times, okay almost everytime but most of them used to play hockey or have been for longer than Avril. We won the last game, which made Avril pretty happy.

Is this house quiet or just empty?
Do you hear the silence as loud as I do?
