Percy POV
T'Challa made a sound. A sound. Not a word. A sound. I snorted. Nico rolled his eyes at me. Bruce and everyone else looked so confused. T'Challa made a sound again. But it sounded like he was asking something. "Nico, can't you control death? And can you talk to hellhounds?" Steve was still looking at T'Challa who looked pretty funny. He was sitting criss-cross apple sauce with a giant black dog on him. "I can't control death. I can summon skeletons and spirits. I can shadow travel but I can't control death. My father and Thanatos can." I tilted my head as T'Challa made more frantic sounds. "You're not speaking English." My voice scared Nico so he jumped. T'Challa was deep in thought then he spoke, "I was not aware I was speaking another language." I smiled, "It's fine. It's like how Nico and I sometimes don't realize we switch to Greek. But you can talk to Mrs. O'Leary right?" He nodded, "Well, and your the black panther king. Have you tried talking to them?" Nico hit me. "He can't talk to them! He can control them." I rubbed my head. "Well, geez! I've never heard of this legend so don't act like I'm supposed to know!" He face palmed, "You are supposed to know! Annabeth would've taught you!" I stopped. Nicos eyes widened, "I'm sorry." Mrs. O'Leary came over and growled at Nico. Then she turned and knocked me down and curled up around me. "It's okay. She would have known." I zoned out the rest of their conversation. I wouldn't have thought Nico would strike me so low. We argue but he's never tried to jab me that way. After everyone left, Peter came over and sat beside me. "You okay?" I nodded my head. "Are you really?" I nodded. I wasn't really registering what he was saying just nodding. "Ever had the frick frack?" I nodded. My head was racing. With random things mainly. ADHD for you. Then, my mind hit camp. Those who are still there, those who aren't. I looked at a bracelet and clicked it. A little holographic screen popped up. I looked at all the names. Every single person who died during the wars. During battles. From the first, a daughter of Hermes. To the last, Annabeth, daughter of Athena. Peter looked at the names and was confused till he saw the last name. "I could tell you how each of them died. But to save time, I'll name a few. Micheal Yew, son of Apollo, fell of a bridge because I caused an earthquake. Zoë Nightshade, hunter of Artemis, daughter of Atlas, died by her fathers hand because my fighting faltered. Bianca Di Angelo, daughter of Hades, died protecting myself, and the other quest members. Ethan Nakamura, son of Nemesis, died because I blew up a ship. C-Charles Beckendorf, son of Hephaestus, died because we got caught and my fighting faltered. Luke Castellan, son of Hermes, died because I couldn't get him to change sides. There's so many Peter. All because of me. One way or another." Peter grabbed my hand and squeezed it. I put my head on his shoulder and we sat there. Like that for who knows how long. And I eventually fell asleep.Peter POV
As Percy was naming the demigods his eyes swirled. They were raging. The pain in his eyes was too much for a nineteen year old. Steves eyes never looked so lost before. The sinks exploded and the sprinklers went off. He kept us dry but I don't think he knew he was doing it. He laid his head on my shoulder and my heart fluttered. I looked up and saw Nico staring. He looked jealous. He was mad. I ignored him and laid my head on top of his. Mrs. O'Leary thumped her tail. I gave her a pet and continued to look at the names. Hazel Levesque, daughter of Pluto, killed by gorgons. Frank Zhang, son of Mars, killed by spear through the chest along with Piper McLean, daughter of Aphrodite. There were so many names. And Percy blamed himself for each of them. "Percy, I'm not going to say it wasn't your fault cause I bet you're tired of hearing it. All I'm going to say is they died for a good reason. They died protecting the world." The thing shut off. "They died doing something good." His shoulders shook slightly. I wrapped my arm around his shoulders and he turned and buried his head in my chest. My face went red and my heart skipped a beat. "Peter, you mean a lot to me. You are the only person who has said that." I absentmindedly ran my fingers through his hair, "Well, it's the truth." We stayed like that for a long time. It got dark out and we stayed. Percy fell asleep around midnight. Nico came up to me from nowhere, "Hes mine." I continued running my hand through his hair. "He doesn't belong to anyone. He chooses that." He smiled, "Then I have nothing to worry about. Because who would choose you." He got down on his knees. "Hm, low strike. Not very many people would. But, last I checked I didn't try and jump him." He scowled. "He's mine. You can never fulfill the role of a partner he needs. I can. Stay away from him. His heart and love belongs to me." With that Nico left. I got to say, he was one scary dude sometimes. I thought about everything. Percy and Nico have been through a lot. Nico would be better. He knows what Percy had been through. The more I thought the more I knew Percy would never return what I felt for him. After half an hour of thinking Percy spoke, "Like you said. I choose." I jumped slightly at his voice but before I could say anything he was asleep again. Mrs. O'Leary growled slightly. "Don't worry. Nico can't hurt him." She whined and nudged me so I petted her head. I soon drifted off to sleep also.
