Tick, tock,
Here starts the clock,
You've been born into a world defined by time.
Let's see how this story goes.Tick, tock,
Oh dear, what do we have here!
This child doesn't know what they want to do in life!Tick, tock,
Oh no!
They want to break the status quo!
They don't want to work from 9-5,
Marry, and have 2.5 kids!Tick, tock,
You're 16!
You'll change your mind once you're older,
There's no way you'd make it out in the world like that!Tick, tock,
What do mean you want to travel the world?
How will you work and go to college?
What do you mean college can wait!Tick, tock,
Stop being unreasonable,
You're 18, grow up,
Your dream just isn't possible anymore!Tick, tock,
Are you still doing this traveling the world thing?
You're 25 don't you think that you should settle down soon?Tick, tock,
You're 35, isn't your maternal clock ticking?
Who cares about the people you've meet and the places you've been,
Where's your family?Tick,tock,
You're 45, don't you regret not having children?
So what if you and the one you married are blissfully happy without,
So what if you feel a sense of freedom
That none of us have?Tick,tock,
You're 65, who's gonna take care of you now?
Do you regret not having children now,
Do you regret living your dreams instead of what we expected of you?Tick, tock,
The clocks run out.
The story is over, this life is done.
Their soul is at peace now,
Roaming amongst the stars,
With no one there to criticize their choices.
