* Lily's POV *

After a short stroll through the park which acted as an extremely large roundabout to the similarly large houses which lined the streets of the wealthy neighbourhood, I found myself in front of a magnificent (yet slightly intimidating) house. if the word 'house' was even a fitting word for it.

The winding drive led up to a dark chestnut door, with two lanterns symmetrically pinned to either side of it. the house was a slightly dirtied ivory colour, yet this did nothing to ruin it's grandeur. The imposing house, or more rather manor, was simply so unlike anything I had ever seen before.

However this statement was coming from a girl who has lived on possibly one of the grimiest housing estates in England, almost all of her life. so really, what did I know about grandeur?

"You live here?!" I exclaimed, unable to conceal my shock any longer. Whoever 'Miss M.' was, she sure had a lot of money.

"Well yeah, there did use to be quite a lot of us living here remember? Anyway, You ready to go in?" Thomas asked, unaware of my high levels of amxiety.

After all, there was still a tiny part of me that hadn't neglected the idea that Thomas could be a psychotic murderer and had only lured me here to kill me. I mean, I did only just meet him today. But, what's life without a little faith and trust? So -

"I'm ready." I told him.

Together, we walked through the door and I took in the my surroundings. The inside of the manor was cosier than what the outside appearance gave it credit for.

Intricate rugs lined the floor and various lampshades of all shapes and sizes were scattered along the long hallway.

"This is cosy." I told Thomas as we stepped through the doorway and he shut the door behind us.

"It serves it's purpose as a place to stay" was the reply I received before a dulcet toned voice interrupted him.

"Thomas! Is this the girl?"

A finely dressed lady in a sweeping velvet dress appeared around the corner. Her hair was in an extravagant updo and she clutched a white cat In her arms, somehow finding it within herself to walk through her own house in heels. Everything about this woman screamed elegance.

"ah hello Miss M. yes, this is Lily - the one who I told you about and will be staying with us for a while."

"Well of course she'll be staying with us for a while, silly boy. Where else will she go? It seems we will have to sort you out into the local school or something, you are in Thomas' year are you not?" 'Miss M.' interrogated me, and I felt slightly intimidated.

"uh I think so"

" 'you think so?' how can you 'think so'? you either know or you don't."

It honestly felt as though I had a mother for the first time in a while.
